Nice colonial style place, but aircons working slowly, everyone sweating inside. Somehow not popular among locals and tourists...

This gallery was very awkward to get to which made paying 200 baht (expensive as museums etc. in Thailand go) to see what was on offer (very little) a real slap in the face. There are a couple of paintings by the current king, King Bhumipol (Rama IX), some interesting statues of Ganesha and...not much else. The building it is housed in used to be the Royal Mint and has been restored. It is beautiful and provides much more to look at than what is hanging on its walls (but perhaps I am just completely naive of what to look at/for in such a place). Considering the nearby and much more accessible National Museum charges the same rate of literally hundreds of more things to see, I reckon you're better off heading down the road a little bit than wasting your time here IMO...

Great place to see Thai's modern art. Very talented upcoming and established artist works are displayed. Its also photographer friendly and admission is low.

The permanent collection at the National Gallery is pretty sad, and that's being kind---however, the temporary exhibits, displayed in what used to be the Royal Mint, are often excellent. The buildings don't look much like a National Gallery, so it took me a very long time to figure out that's what they were. Part is an old palace, the other part the former Mint--and the signage is not easy to see or read, but it's only about a block away from the end of Khao San Road, and it can be a refreshing break from the somewhat frenetic activity in that area.

Although a very good gallery it needs more exhibits. Rather disappoingting for the entrance fee of 200 baht
