I was originally staying at another hotel in Bangkok, but found this to be much more centrally located than the big hotels located along the MTR line along Ploemchit and the other big shopping areas. It's closer to the river, the historic sites within Bangkok and the nightlife of the Khao San walking street.

There is a security guard sitting out front that welcomes you and lets you on to the property, which is nice to see. The reception is quick and easy and the rooms are comfortable with everything you need, but nothing else (except for a minibar). This is definitely a no frills place, but somehow has a very peaceful and quiet feel despite its location.

This is the place to be to save some money, while being in a great location at a great hotel in Bangkok.

Cheers

I got to Villa Phra Sumen early. Just for your information, the taxi ride is off meter and a flat rate of 450 THB. The friendly staff was able to check me in early which was very helpful. They also offer free shuttle to The Grand Palace. They asked for a deposit for the room key card so have some money already available for that. It is refunded upon check out. I was walked up to my room by the staff to make sure that the room was satisfactory. The room was very nice. Concrete floors and wood beams gave it a modern look. The bathroom had a waterfall shower which was so nice, and the wonderful tile added a nice touch. After a quick shower, I took the shuttle to The Grand Palace. If there wasn't traffic it would be a quick five minute drive, but it is Bangkok so traffic is inevitable. The shuttle driver was very helpful in showing me a walking path to get back to the hotel. After the Grand Palace I got a Tuk Tuk and toured around the area for 40 THB, and went back to the hotel. The hotel is very near to the Golden Mount as well as other temples. Very convenient. When I returned to the hotel, I asked suggestions for dinner. They suggested Khao San Road which was a nice 10 minute walk. The hotel is very safe. There was always an attendant outside the main door and you had to use your key card to get in. For families, there is a play set in the main area near the open air lobby. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I had the urban view double. The room was great. There was a little bit of noise on the street as a...

This is the best hotel in Thailand! It is a little oasis in Bangkok's city center. Rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean, breakfast is delicious and they offer wonderful services like a complimentary drop off in the grand palace. But the best thing about this hotel is its staff. They are all wonderdul and caring people who always help you and make you feel like at home.

Booked the hotel based on reviews before we left for Bangkok. Won't stay anywhere else in Bangkok. The staff are the extremely helpful and informative. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated. The room also had a beautiful ensuite bathroom. The hotel is close to Koh San road and also a short walk to a water boat pier. The boats there offer a 'tourist route' for 150baht per person. Overall we had an extremely positive experience and would 100% go back to this hotel. We recommend it to everyone!

The hotel is situated close to top tourist attractions. It takes by boat around 20 minutes to get to the Siam Square and the immense shopping opportunities. By taxi it can take a little longer depending on the time of the day.

The hotel itself is good craftsmanship. It is clean, solid, well equipped and well functioning. There are rooms and space for family holidays, stylish rooms for romantic couples, rooms for the ones, who need to wrap up the report after the days meetings...

Internet, number of power sockets, water supply, mini bar etc are well dimensioned and functioned without any problems during my 8 weeks stay.

The staff is a separate chapter. They are extremely helpful, flexible and very service minded, I cannot thank them enough. I am looking forward to staying there again.

Room Tip: Romantic channel side rooms.

Booked the hotel before arrival in Bangkok based in reviews here, and were not disappointed. The location is great, about 5 min walk to Kao San road, but located in a quiet street. It is a long way to the metro or sky train, which can be a problem during rush hour (which is 15-18 at least). The laundry took a day longer than they said and they mixed out clothes with sone other guest's, but we got all our clothes back in time and nicely cleaned. The AC, wifi and breakfast was good. Wouldn't mind staying here again!
