I've just returned from Bangkok where I stayed 4 nights in a Studio Room which cost A$50 per night. The hotel was suggested by my business contact in BKK and I was sceptical at first after seeing the tariff as I'd stayed in a few shockers for similar rates in other SE Asian countries. But after checking the relatively positive feedback Trip Advisor feed back, booked it. I was pleasantly surprised on arrival. Very efficient check-in at 11pm by friendly staff, of which most, but not all, were. My room was on the first floor and quite large and clean. Unfortunately the airconditioning unit is on a ledge outside the window and is quite noisy. Maybe double glazing would help. The bathroom was the let down though, very dated and rough with quite slippery tiles in the shower recess. But what can I expect for $50 a night.
The bed in my room was a king size and very comfortable, so a good sleep wasn't too difficult even with the aircon whirring away outside the window. But if you like to read in bed, forget it, as the lights don't light the room enough, so try the TV instead. Maybe they think its romantic. [goes with the condoms in the minibar]

My room was right opposite the gym which wasn't too bad, with a lovely view over the water [could have been sewage] treatment plant behind the hotel. I suppose this was one way to not feel hungry. Speaking of which the buffet breakfast was pretty good, with a reasonable variety of foods to suit many nationalities.

All things considered its a pretty good hotel in a lively spot and handy to public transport. If you go by taxi/motorcycle anywhere get a card from reception first with the address to get back as not many taxis know where it is for some reason.

You can get a great massage over the road next to the 7 Eleven....ask for Tip, she's nothing to look at but has the best hands.

This 277 room hotel located near underground station and shops. It is quite near to the centre of Bangkok, only 4 stops from Sukhumvit. Nicely set up lounge and coffee shop. It has good restaurant and room service, with excellent menu and very reasonable prices. You have the feeling of a big hotel but at the much lower rates.
The breakfast is included. There are varieties of food and to keep the majority of guests which are Asian visitors happy, they also provide plenty of Asian dishes for breakfast.
The basic room is large and clean with good aircondition. The bed sheets and towels are changed daily as expected, of course.

I had an enjoyable stay. There are Thai massage shops near by, for foot or body massage and for those who want more there is a big shop for bath and massage just around the corner but that one you get more than just a massage, I think.
