we stayed in this hotel for 4nights and we would not stay here again...

cons:
too loud..especiall during the weekend since the hotel is very close to k.s. road.unless you want to party 247 dont stay here as you wont get any slep

no free wifi and prices for internet are way too high compared to local coffe shops..

our room was very small and it was supposed to be a standart room.also it looked pretty ran down.nothing like the pictures..

for the cheap price you can definitely stay in a better hotel in bangkok..

ok aspects:
staff is ok..i sometimes had the feeling Im bothering them when i asked for the key

breakfast is nothing big..very limited selection and no real variety but ok

pro:
has safes in frontoffice

has own travel agency

I generally hate when tourists pay for cheap cheap accomodation then whinge about the tiny things like lack of english speaking skills, lack of interior design etc. It's all part of the experience! I thought this hotel was GREAT seeing as it costs me $25 bucks a night! Free breakfast every morning, clean (and small but who cares you're in Thailand to explore) room, computers and internet available in the lobby and it is right smack BANG in the middle of Khaosan Road. But it's down a little alleyway so you escape a lot of the late night speakers thumping through till the wee hours of the morning. The hotel also has a tourist desk to book a pelthora of activities, they organise airport transfers, give you fresh towels, the rooms have cable! For $25 dollars a night what more could you ask for really. it's a great experience in Thai culture! Go stay there and get a real asian experience for a third of the price.

Room tip: ask for a room off the ground floor

We left one guesthouse to stay here for two nights. Before booking and paying in full we asked twice that there would be definitely be wifi available on every floor and we were assured by two members of staff that yes there was and it was free. After checking in we were given a wifi code and asked to sign a sheet that we had received it. The wifi worked for about 5 minutes for only one of us in the room. When I went to inquire with the front desk I was rudely told it wasn't their problem and to go down the road to a different hotel. It was only on our very last morning that a member of staff informed us that each room only has Internet access for one device only for one day. With regards to the room, the bathroom smelled badly, there was only one socket and two very dim lights so it was impossible to read or see anything at night with all the lights on. Desperately bad value.

Stayed in Sawasdee on the first few nights of a backpackers trip. When we arrived the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were impressed with the rooms as we werent sure what sort of accomodation our trip included. They were clean, the beds were reasonable, and the air conditioning was definitely essential! Breakfast was included for us, which was a nice surprise as we weren't expecting it to be! The location was brilliant, literally a few steps walk onto the strip of Koh San Road. If you're staying here, make sure you visit the silk bar just up the street for a Chang!

Stayed here for one night before we started our Stray Asia tour.

As it was part of the Bangkok package through stray it was actually free of Charge for us.

Can’t complain too much as it was free but there are a few things wrong with this hotel that would have made us very disappointed if we were paying money for it.

We were ignored by the reception staff when we first arrived. Checked in and then told to come back 2 hours later. Rude reception staff towards other guests

Included with the Stray Bangkok package was a free beer at the hotel. We only received one voucher and when we asked where the second was, she said the reservation was only for one person (but they were quite happy to check in 2 people to a DOUBLE room) Communication had to be made with the Stray office to confirm that a DOUBLE room meant 2 people not 1!!!

Maids coming into your room without prior knocking

Bathroom is really poor standard. Cold trickily shower that then drips on you whilst you are sat on the toilet.

500thb key deposit required (always annoying when on a budget)

Wifi is not free and is the first place in Thailand that we have come across that doesn’t. We thought it would be OK as there is a McDonald’s across the road but didn’t provide wifi either.

Good location on Koh San Road (more than one Sawasdee hotel – 14 in total - so make sure you check in to the right one)

On check out they go up and check the room so allow 5-10mins. Some people were arguing with them over a bottle of water that the hotel said they had had!

Room tip: We had a superior double! Would be interested to see what the standard doubles were like???
