We have found the swana Hotel because we wanted to stay in the Samsen road area and everything was full. Actually this district is our favourite one in Bangkok. It´s very traditional, very low houses (no skyscapers), children are playing in the streets, much streetfood and stil enough guesthoses and restaurant.
If you want to go down town, walk 15 Min to the pier, take the boat to sathorn pier and hop on the skytrain.
The rooms at Swana Hotel have very nice funiture, comfy bed, TV, fridge.
For us it was the kind of room, we we really enjoyed resting.
Staff was friendly and professionel. I think the price is for what you get very fair (agoda cheaper than walking in).Furthermore it was very quiet and night, good sleep. And it´s safe, there is always staff around and they have a nightguard.
As I wrote before, I think the district is very interesting. And it´s not true, that restaurants are fare away. Take the mainentrance, turn left and than immediatley again left. Follow the road after 2 minutes you find the next guesthouses. Walk the little roads there (Samsen Sois) and you find plenty places to eat.
We would always stay at Swana again.More
