“THE "CHEESEIST" HOTEL IN BANGKOK”
Reviewed 28 May 2012

This was our 3rd time back to Millennium Hilton and we are going back in November this year. We love everything about the hotel from staff, spa, gym, restaurants, executive lounge, rooms, The Beach and off course THE Cheese Room. It is a truely unique experience and I have never seen anything like it anywhere in the world. 50 top notch cheeses from around the world in a air and humidity controlled room. My childhood friend who KNOWS cheese came up from Pattaya to experience the Cheese Room and he was speachless...YES it is that good!
Also a shout out to Urs the Wizard of all things bread and pastry. He is in charge of Lantern and it is a great place for light lunch or homemade ice cream and homemade chocolates.
All in all 5 Stars...
One minor negative..during our last visit we noticed in the executive lounge that no alcohol was served during the day while in the past you could at least get a beer...how about adding beer to the all day beverage service?

Dear promo2000plus

Thank you for once again choosing Millennium Hilton Bangkok. I will certainly share your appreciation with all of the team.

Indeed the Cheese room and the culinary skills of Chef Urs are somthing we are very proud of and part of our continued focus on creating iconic Dining and Entertainment.

Thanks for mentioning the slight inconsistency in the Executive lounge, which we will address

Looking forward to welcome you back “home” again soon.

Kind regards

We stayed on the executive floor here recently while on holiday. The pool of this hotel is probably the biggest let down. It looks fabulous, however it's looks do not match its practicality. It's quite small, and you have to watch your clothes, because if they blow off the lounge chairs they end up in the ankle deep water which becomes a drag to walk on.

However did enjoy the jacuzzi in the change rooms. The gym is also quite reasonable for a hotel gym. Food at the buffet restaurant was ok. Desert and the seafood were the highlights. Cheese room was excellent. The cocktails in the club room at night were very nice with a great view fro there as well.

The room was very nice. We stayed in rooms on the corner which were huge and had fantastic views. Awesome to have a lounge and separate bedroom. Bathroom was smallish but certainly big enough and loved having a bath.

The location of this hotel was okay and the free boat across the river helpful to get around. All in all though this hotel had the feel of a business hotel rather than for a holiday. Not a lot of help from staff in planning things to do etc. Not a relaxed feel to the place.

We stayed on one of the executive floors for two nights. The room was great, really enjoyed the innovative approach to the bedroom layout, having the bed facing the large window with the city views was a nice touch. The lounge on the 31st floor was well stocked at breakfast, we enjoyed our start to the day with delicous pastries, fruits and great views. I also recommend the bar on the floor above the lounge for a late night drink, there was live jazz on the night we visited.

Getting to the city for sightseeing or shopping is easy, there are two free ferry services provided by the Hilton, one to the riverside shopping centre directly across the river, and the other to the Taksin Bridge railway station a bit further down the river. From here the train can be caught to MBK, Silom and other areas. There is also a Robinson supermarket and McDonalds just around the corner (on the left side) from Taksin station.

We arranged a limo pick up from the airport, this was 1700 Baht and proved to be a good idea. We were collected in a nice new car after being met at arrivals, had a good driver and plenty of air conditioning which made it a smooth trip. We returned to the airport by metered taxi, this cost 300 baht (plus the 70 Baht toll fee) and took approximately 40 minutes on a Monday morning at 10 am.

The staff were fantastic, the hotel is very tidy - they have a great pool and gym area - so we were both really happy with our Bangkok hotel choice. Our only (very) minor complaint was that the wifi was slow for us!

My wife and I stayed on an Executive floor at the Millenium Hilton in Bangkok for three nights, April 16-19, 2012, and again for one night on May 3, 2012.

I echo all of the positive comments in recent reviews and have nothing negative to mention, except that free Wi-Fi in the guest room should be a standard feature, as it was in our hotels everywhere else in Thailand, rather than an expensive add-on. (Free Wi-Fi is provided in the Executive Floor lounge and we had no trouble using it there.)

My wife enjoyed a nice massage in the spa. We sat by the pool, which included a shaded area over the water. We used great equipment in the exercise room. We loved the breakfast and Happy Hour offerings. We had a nice dinner in the main floor restaurant, Flow. We took the free, boat shuttle many times to the Central Wharf, where we caught the river ferry or the Sky Train. We also chartered a long boat, on a moment's notice, for an hour's tour of the canals for 1,000 baht (very much worth doing.)

The bed was very comfortable, the room lighting very good, the huge picture window a delight to look out of from bed, and the bathroom and shower very good. Everything was very clean and the service, throughout the hotel, was excellent.

Bottom line: Great location, great value, great stay!

Loved everything in this hotel, its 12 years old but still looks like it was opened yesterday. The breakfast buffet is amazing. Staff all very courteous and view on the roof top bar amazing.

Only complaint was when we asked concierge if he could reccomend a cheap and cheerful thai restaurant he told us to go to one 15 mins taxi ride away, when i asked if there was one closer by he said no there is nothing in the area. we went to his reccomendation and it was lovely. However the next night i spied a riverfront restaurant right next door to the hotel (not easy to see unless you look off roof - when you walk to ferry wharf turn right and its about 50 metres down path) and went there the next night and it was amazing (live music, cheap beer and AMAZING food) but funnily enough filled with the staff from the hotel including the gent who told us there was nothing in area!!!

Overall this hotel is AWESOME.

Stayed here with my family for the final two nights of our four week Thailand holiday in April 2012.

The hotel is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya river in the Klong San area of Bangkok. A meter taxi to the hotel from BKK airport should set you back around 350bht and takes about an hour depending on traffic. Check in was handled by reception efficiently and we were in our room within minutes of arriving at the hotel. The hotel is located on the opposite side of the river to central Bangkok so you will need to use the free boat shuttle to get you to the sky train. This free Hilton shuttle boat runs every twenty minutes and takes about five minutes or so to reach the sky train station. If you arrive just after the boat has gone, you can always opt to use the public boat service which is located about a minute walk to the left of the hotel. This cost is 2.5bht per person which is about 5p (UK) and it takes a couple of minutes to cross and seems to only go from one side of the river to the other constantly, so you will never have to wait more than a few minutes for this.

There is also a 7-11 located to the left of the hotel and the KlongSan Night Bizarre which is aimed more at locals than tourist. But there are many things for sale here and a fairly decent selection of food & desserts at rock bottom prices.

The room we stayed in was the standard room which was very nice and well upto normal Hilton standard. The thing I found best about this hotel was the view from the room. All rooms have a huge window with an excellent view of the river. I found it nice and relaxing to just gaze out of the window and watch the boats float by.

I cannot comment on the food in the hotel as I chose not to eat there. But from what I could see the food looked good if not a little for Bangkok standards, but this is expected in any Hilton no matter what location in the world.

My stay in the Hilton Millennium was pretty good and was a great way to wrap up my time in Thailand. The next time I return to Thailand I will no doubt spend a couple of nights here again.

Room Tip: All rooms have a great view of the river
