“Nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2010

Nice hotel. at chao praya river, very quiet neighbourhood, perfect after an exhausting city-tour, but a little bit far from the heart of bangkok. amazing breakfast-buffet, fresh fruitshakes, sushi, western, asian and indian food. san pellegrino water (what a luxury in asia). nice lounge area just in front of the river. pool ok, too cold, but nice for a nap and a beer, staff ok. 5 star hotel, worth the money but the mandarin oriental is much better, the mandarin is an experience you'll never forget. millenium hilton is better than hilton, but the atmosphere is not the same like in the mandarin or other traditional 5 star hotels. nice bed, very comfortable, incredible view over bangkok. spa and fitness area ok, but very small.

Very stylish hotel.
Yummie, bread and pastries and chocolate made by the in house Swiss baker/confectioner/chocolatier.
Make sure you don't miss their hot chocolate at The Lantern. You get served the hot milk with what looks like an ice cream scoop of chocolate which you then melt yourself. Pretty cool.
No need to worry about the location at all. Just hop on their boat bringing you either across the river from where you can catch a taxi or tuk tuk. Or their other stop by the Skytrain.
Liked their pool area, but it was a bit too fresh(!) to go for a dip when were there in the evening.

We stayed 3 nights at the Millenium Hilton in Bangkok with family and friends in August 2010 prior to our son's wedding at Hyatt Regency in Hua Hin.

The hotel could not have provided any better service than that which we experienced.
Every contact with staff throughout the hotel was met with a friendly smile and helpful attention. The warm welcome at 6 o'clock in the morning after a long flight was just the start of a wonderful stay.

We booked online a deluxe room including breakfast and our superb room had great views over the river and city.

The fantastic breakfast catered for every taste, asian, oriental or western and the restaurant overlooked the river with all the activity moving up and down stream.

The Regency Club on the top floor is a restful place to relax and enjoy the wonderful views over Bangkok and provides internet services for guests.

A free ferry takes guests to the shopping center opposite or to the metro station a few minutes downstream where you can take the train to many places of interest or shopping centres.

We would definitely recommend the Millenium Hilton to travellers visiting Bangkok.

We didn't do too much research about this hotel because we wanted to stay at a Hilton to redeem our HH Points. When we got there we were very impressed with this hotel. Great view from the city (specially if you go to the executive lounge & bar located on the top floor), located by the river with boat transportation every 20 minutes to go to the other side and the best breakfast buffet I've ever enjoyed: with food stations around the restaurant, juicers on site so you can get your own freshly squeezed juice, eastern & western food options. Simply delightful.

I also loved that they provided us 2 different sizes of slippers in our room. I have tiny feet so usually the slippers at every hotel are really big and I end up tripping. First time I found a small size for me, really complimented my stay. We did get an upgrade to an executive room for our HH membership, great view, perfect room distribution and spacious bathroom.

We loved the swimming pool area, breathtaking view, great design and distribution, it doesn't feel crowded at all. The jacuzzis area is very romantic and private.

Location is excellent, because once you are transfered by boat to the other side of the river you have boat trips you can take right away and the Skytrain station is right there. Great prices and transportation to any other location you would like to visit in BKK. Right next to the hotel, by the pier area is a small Thai restaurant, called "Be my guest", good food, live music (so,so) and great prices!

We fell in love with Thailand on this first visit, that we are already planning to return next year and stay again at the Millennium hilton while we are in Bangkok. If you decide to visit Koh Samui, I highly recommend to stay at Hansar Samui, check it out!!!

Hilton Millennium is located right on the river with convenient river ferries to the opposite side to the skytrain. Getting the hotel was fairly smooth. We were met by a Hilton rep identified by his Hilton sign after few other transport reps tried to convince us that they were our pick up. We were presented with hat-wearing chauffeur making us feel very welcome and given cold towels and water. The trip to the hotel was smooth until we hit horrendous traffic in Bangkok, and the chauffeur used as his opportunity to sell us tours. He was gracious when we turned him down.

On arriving at the hotel, check in was swift and we were taken to our room on the 23 floor. The room was medium in size, just about enough space for two people to move around each other, and looked out over the river towards the Royal Palace which we could see in the distance. The bed was large and comfortable large. The bathroom was well equipped with full size bath, large separate shower and Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. The worse part of the room was the temperamental air conditioning which blew both hot and cold and struggled to maintain a constant temperature.

Food in the hotel was delicious. Room service was more expensive than we expected, but the range and quality of the food was very good. Breakfast and dinner in the main buffet restaurant was also excellent in range and quality (typical Hilton breakfast), and staff quite attentive and unobtrusive; though getting tea and coffee at breakfast was slow during busy times. Nonetheless, staff throughout the hotel were generally helpful and responsive.

The bar at the top of the hotel is definitely worth a visit for even more spectacular views. Service here was particularly attentive. And I recommend trying the pink sangria!

There was a well-equipped gym and studio, as well as a beautiful beach styled pool area complete with sand. Neither were particularly busy when we went but both were quite small and looked like it would get quite cramped with much more than a handful of people.

The hotel provides a free water shuttle service to River City, a shopping complex, and Sathorn Pier, for the BTS and Skytrain. The service ran regularly, approximately every 20 minutes. Unfortunately the hotel only has one pier and it was very annoying when one boat was there waiting for it allotted departure time, while the other boat is waiting to dock and drop off guests – this was particularly annoying when the weather was bad and the river was very choppy. In addition, at Sathorn, the Hilton shares the one pier with other hotels, so although takes about five minutes to get to Sathorn, it can take 15 minutes to actually get off the boat while other hotel shuttles cut each other up and jostle for position to drop their guests off. The Hilton shuttle runs to midnight which was well timed as the Skytrain and BTS also closed at midnight. Also the waiting area at Sathorn was well lit and there was a guard there looking out for people and shouting out the names of the hotels as their boats arrived.

Moving around Bangkok is simple and cheap. An all-day BTS/Skytrain ticket cost 120 bahts, tuk tuks were negotiable, but they are happy to take you to a sight and wait and then take you to the next one. They charge per person. Taxis are also cheap, but the traffic is so horrendous that unless you are heading out of Bangkok, they are not worth taking as it would be quicker to walk. We experienced one frustrated taxi driver who dropped us off in completely in the wrong place as the traffic was bad, and naively we believed his story that our venue was only a few metres away.

The tourist boat, with the orange or blue flags, was also cheap and gave a great insight to people living by the river. There was also a spectacular view of Wat Arun from the river. This was 150 baht each for the whole day, or 25 baht per stop – which actually is much better value if you know where you are going in advance.

Bangkok as a city was extremely busy, but the people were friendly, even the ones that were not able to speak English were willing to help. If you are on a short trip, then your must dos are The Grand Palace and Wat Pho. If you are there on the 14 Oct, the Royal Temple is open for one day only per year and of all the temples is the most beautiful and ornate.

Would also recommend Faces Bar on Soi 36 for fantastic Thai food.

I would definitely recommend the Hilton as a base for exploring Bangkok as it was very comfortable, service was quite good and the food and amenities were excellent.

We stayed in an Executive Plus Suite which entitled us to Executive Club Benefits. The Executive Club Benefits were well worth the money as this entitled us to two garments per person per day to be laundered, access to the Executive Lounge, buffet breakfast in the Executive Lounge, complimentary beverages throughout the day & cocktail hour each evening.

Our room on the 25th floor was perfect. We were at the "pointy end" of the building with marvellous river views. Having a separate lounge room + extra toilet was a bonus. The bedroom was spacious & the bed was one of the best we've ever slept in. The pillow menu was a novelty of which we took full advantage. The bathroom was wonderful with a separate toilet, shower & a large bath. The Crabtree & Evelyn bathroom products were a nice touch.

There is a "magic" button on the phone & believe me the service you receive from the other end IS magic. You are addressed by name when the phone is answered & any request we made was met almost immediately & with a smile.

It's the little things that make Millennium Hilton so special & enjoyable such as complimentary tea or coffee delivered to your room if you have an early morning wake up call before the restaurant is open.

We enjoyed our meals at Flow, they have a cheese room there, something quite special in S.E. Asia. Room service meals were excellent. Our favourite dining experience was lunch at Yuan restaurant.

The Spa environment is so relaxing & the therapists were very professional & thorough.

We loved the experience of crossing the river if we wanted to go to the other side & found we never had long to wait.

I loved Bangkok. Yes, it is very busy & hectic & the traffic is mad, so coming back to Millennium Hilton each day was like retreating to our own little sanctuary.

Have had an upgrade to the Executive Floor on 26th floor. The view is great and the room is designed that you can fully enjoy this view - no matter if you are on your bed or in the tub. The bar on 32rd floor offers you a 360° view over Bangkok. You are not dependent on Taxi or Limousine. The cost-free boat shuttle brings you directly to the stop of the Express boat and BTS station. The breakfast buffet is impressive and does not leave any wish open.
