“I felt like home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2013

This is the best hotel I've ever been. Staff and owner are very kind and make you feel at home. My friend and I were looking for two beds bedroom and they allowed us to stay in separate room in the meantime. Every corner of this place has been decorated with a special charm. Nantiya (the owner-manager) and the staff: Ead, Aom, and Kluin are very kind and let us with unforgettable memories of Bangkok. Love this trip much in part because of them.

Stayed in the honeymoon suite. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were the best for choice, variety and healthy fruit options. The lack of natural light in the room was our only gripe.

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite has its own private garden

A nice little Inn tucked in a beautiful locality with warm hospitality extended to guests, I generally wouldn't expect much more from a hotel.
Nantiya is an extremely gracious and thoughtful host with an amazing eye for detail. The room decor, the delicious breakfast spread and add to it a dose of advice whenever required, all together sum up to an experience which is hard to forget.
The location itself is a little away from the BTS/MRT routes, but the waterways of Bangkok are quite within reach. We intended to avoid taking the roads in Bangkok as much as possible looking at the long and painful traffic jams, which i successfully managed having the canal boats at service. Only grouse is that the canal boat service stops at 7 pm. Thankfully we didn't face any traffic jams late at night. This place is also close to the Grand Palace (50Bht tuk tuk ride), Wat Pho and Wat Arun which is another plus point.
We stayed in two type of rooms: lemongrass and jasmine, both had unique aspects to them and contributed to our delightful experience. We found some good restaurants around as well. Kudos to Nantiya for maintaining such a great place, we would love to return.

Room Tip: Try more than one type of room of possible

Amazing experience in Bangkok. The owners go out of their way to help make one's stay memorable. Breakfast is very yummy too! The location is very central. Even the night staff is super friendly and helps out with any questions and travel plans. Will definitely go here again.

I agree with all the other reviews...

Adorable little hotel with some really nice touches. It's oozing with character and the staff are absolutely great. Really willing to help out and although some don't have great English, it doesn't matter, you get there in the end.

They breakfast was the nicest we had across 4 countries and over 5 weeks and location wise, you could throw a stone and hit the Royal Palace (don't though).

Maybe a little bit pricey but at least you're getting value for your money which is more than can be said for a lot of the places in Bangkok.

Old Bangkok Inn is a lovely cosy B&B. What stands out is the decor of the place. Its all wood and antiques.

Pros:
1. Very nice and cosy.
2. Nantiya (manager) is a warm and very helpful person.
3. The room was well done and was ready before we checked in.
4. All emails were replied to promptly.
5. The breakfast is lovely and the little thai snacks that she offers at the breakfast table are delicious.
6. She leaves small hand written messages on the bed with nick nacks which is really cute.
7. Feels like home and more.
8. Ensures guests have a good time and also help in hiring taxis/tuk tuk etc.
9. Place is well connected to grand palace, wat pho, wat arun, river taxi, old fort. The 0 kilometre starts here. So one is technically in the centre of Bangkok.

Cons:
1. The lemon grass room is not very big and some might feel it is congestive.
2. The small wooden stairs are not very comfortable if one is of large build.
3. Though the receptionist is available 24 hours, not all of them are able to communicate in english. Though they do try their best.
4. Other than river taxis, other modes of transport are cumbersome. No BTS, No MRT. Bus and taxis are stuck in traffic jam.
5. No fitness centre or swimming pool
4. A little expensive.

In the middle of the fantastic chaos that is Bangkok's Old City, the tiny Old Bangkok Inn is everything you want in a boutique hotel; authentic and traditional in its design (because after all - that's why you're staying in this area in the first place) and a tranquil oasis to call home the minute you enter (because that's what you need after a day in Old City). The staff is warm, friendly, helpful and they stuff you full of luscious tropical fruit every morning (which more than makes up for the rougher corners of the hotel). I would stay again and again.
