“affordable hotel with river view”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

centre point group has offered few serviced residence style hotels in different areas of bangkok, and this is the best one in my own opinion. very good location within 2 mins walk from bts saphan taksin; very convenient building with Robinson & restaurants on the lower floors; very big rooms with stunning river view; actually make me feel like home. the only problem might be the terrible traffic in this area especially if you would like to take taxi from/back to hotel. highly recommended for those who wanna spend most of time exploring bangkok by boat.

Room Tip: it's worth to add little extra to upgrade to a high level river view room

I wish they had a 'good' option rather than average and very good because this is really in the middle of the two.

The location is fab, right off the sky train and situated very near the river and the piers, and good shops and restaurants on the doorstep. The hotel staff were very helpful and courteous, there was a free coffee and juice machine in the foyer which was a nice tough ( although it was out of order for part of our stay).
Our room was on the 14th floor and it was just ok, nice and spacious, bit scruffy round the edges especially in the shower and bathroom, and no dvd player - which i was sure was advertised on the hotel photos. The room was on the side of the hotel so you could say it had a river view, but it had a huge concrete balcony and a view over the carpark and a disused old building and the whole floor smelt of cigarettes. I just felt i had paid quite a lot for this room (£50).
The pool was gorgeous but be aware if you want the sun you have to get down there before 2pm as it was in the tiniest of corners at the back of the deck and everyone had moved over there, but the deck chairs were screwed down so you couldn't move to sit in the sun. The pool was on the same floor as the car park and someone was definitely 'spraying or repainting something as we kept getting really toxic wafts of paint fumes every few minutes!!' Anyway, we went to a lovely restaurant opposite had great thai food, then a few cocktails in Glur on the next road and had a good wander round the indoor market and topped it off with a massage down near the Shangrila - so plenty to do.
Next morning we made good use of the pool whilst it was sunny, had a complementary coffee and a late check out - so overall an OK experience.
Tip - we had planned to go to Asiatique ( someone called it the Covent Garden of Thailand..) so we went down to the pier after checking out but found out the boats didn't start till 4.30pm so we are presuming its more of a night market thing and didnt get to check it out.
Tip - we also went to the sky bar at Lebua - again this opens just in the evening and they dont allow flip flops and had a dress code so i nipped out and bought some plastic shoes!!! It was well worth it, views were amazing, prices matched the height of the building too ;)

Dear works4thejollys,

Thank you very for your kind comment and your support at our Centre Point Hotel Silom.

I apologize to hear that my staff did not inform you about our on request DVD Player upon your arrival. I have already discussed with my Housekeeping Department about our hotel maintenance that it must be more effective and protective to our guests to prevent the same situation in the future.

I apologize once again for any inconvenience caused by our internal miscommunication. My team and I will try our best to make our Hotel to be more like your second home in Bangkok on your next stay.

Looking forward to seeing you.

Have a good time.

The breakfast is very good. Nice variety of food. I have eaten some stuff that I have never eat before, and it was very good. Breakfast price is very reasonable.
The walls between rooms are very thin. I have heard a normal conversation of the people in the room next to ours. The problem is that they were talking in 2 AM. So, the soundproof is terrible.
Check out is at 12:00. If you are asking for a late check out, they said that is possible and it is at 13:00. Funny.
We have arranged late check out with your receptionist's at 20:00, but the price was too high. We had to pay more than 50% of our arranged price for the night. That is really to much. I've felt ripped off.

The hotel itself is really good and has a large pool. The deluxe rooms are worth it even if you don't use the kitchen area. Our room was a corner room on the 19th floor with fabulous views of the river and a simply huge terrace and it was in good order even though the shower could do with being more thoroughly cleaned. The beds are the typical hard mattresses you get in this part of the world but were comfortable enough. What really makes this hotel is where it is; it is built on top of a shopping complex with supermarket and restaurants in the basement and department store above, and yet next door to all this is a local market, food stalls and small shops. A short walk away is the BTS train and riverboat pier to take you to most places. In short: all Bangkok in a nutshell. A great value hotel for local atmosphere and getting around.

Room Tip: I felt the deluxe rooms are worthwhile.

Dear stegler,

Thank you very much for your kind comment and your support at our Centre Point Hotel Silom.

I apologize to hear that you had an inconvenience during your stay with us. After I have read your review, I have checked in our system for your booking and found that your first 4 nights reservation (February 20-24, 2014) which was booked via Agoda was included Breakfast but your 1 night extension (February 24-25, 2014) which was booked via Agoda as well was not included Breakfast. I am sorry to hear that there was a mistake with your reservation from Agoda. Please contact at our restaurant to be charged directly with us if your next booking is not included Breakfast.

I have brief and given an oral warning to my staff for the lack of service. My team and I promise that we will try our best to make our service meet your most satisfaction in the future.

We spent three nights at this hotel, benefitting from a spontaneous upgrade to a suite with laundry machine. Just great. Our cityside view room provided a most impressive sight, unlike what we later had at the Chatrium hotel. The location is close to some shopping streets, the river with a nearby boat terminal. And there is a large Robinson shopping center attached to the hotel. This shopping center also has a very cheap but good food market/restaurant on the fourth floor.

fantastic location next to metro and water taxis for sightseeing. also 7/11 nearby for drinks and snacks. great rooms with river views. big comfy beds. staff lovely. complimentary coffee in reception good idea. complimentary treats for Chinese new year was a nice touch.
bit pricey and restaurant too expensive.... therefore empty with no atmosphere.
pool in shade by the afternoon so could do with being heated after a long days sightseeing.
downside...aircon very noisy, woke us up with it's rattling every time it turned on.
