“Good place to stay near Kao San.”
Reviewed 2 May 2011

Want to stay near Kao San but don't want the noise or hassel. This place is perfect as it is just off the main drag and is in the nicer part of thus neighborhood.

The hotel is large and good place for backpackers as the rooms ate comfortable and offer great value for money. The two pools on the roof are great too.

Located near the Khao San Road we found this hotel slightly off the main road in a pleasant, shady little plaza, complete with cafes, internet cafe and fish pond. It's a busy place with backpackers coming and going all the time. We paid 1050THB per night for a bright, clean room that had air con and hot water, and a comfortable bed....an absolute must after a long flight from London to Bangkok! You can also expect to pay a refundable deposit of 1000THB. The rooftop pool is a bonus but, surprisingly, closes at 6pm.
It is essential that you establish what facilities your room has before signing in, have a look at it, and check the state of the beds. Some of the hotels/guesthouses we looked at were awful with beds that were no more than a bunch of springs held together in a cotton sack.

This place was the first stop in our 6 week trip of south east asia, we paid 880bhat for a double room, which was perfectly acceptable and the place has a roof top pool. the bathroom was typical south east asian style where there is no shower cubicle etc so the whole bathroom gets wet when you shower but this turned out to be very common in out travels. The location is definitely in the back packer ghetto, run down attempts at western resteraunts rather than genuine thai, kinda thing, but if you wanna go where all the tourists culminate then this location is fine.
word of warning, make sure you get a reciept of the bond they make you pay when you check in, they ask for it when you check out, we weren't even given a receipt and then had to pay (a very small) fee to photocopy our passport etc to get our bond back - we saw other people having the same problem at the time. but have to agree with other reviews on here - we saw more tourists being downright rude to staff than staff being rude to tourists.
all in all would recommend this place.

If you've not been to Bangkok before, stay here. It's about a 10 pound taxi from the airport to this decent hotel located at the heart of the tourist area. Cheaper and maybe better places may be available but you can spend a lot of time looking
Don't waste money on a superior de luxe room. The standard rooms are as good, albeit on the higher floors and there's no lift to some parts of the building. There's a safe in the room and a security guard in reception to keep out ne'erdowells.
The pool on the roof is nice after a long day tramping the streets but shuts at 6pm.
I didn't see any food available but there a loads of options nearby.

This accommodation on Rumbuttri Rd does what it says on the tin good bed with private toilet and shower, within a stones throw of Khao San Rd (where there seems to be a 24 hour party) so not too noisy to get a good nights sleep after a lovely Thai massage!! Downstairs has a range of cafes and restaurants serving wide range of food.

I stayed their 2 times during my recent trip to Asia and had no problems with any of their staff. I can't say that about some of their guests who were rude and demanding. Dealing with the public is not easy and they are very busy with a lot people not just checking in & out.
I love the location, you get the feeling you are really are in Bangkok. Its close to the water taxi where you can get on the BTS system and go any-where fast.Do NOT take the tuk tuk their try to rip you off and its a pain trying to get a fair price.Take a regular taxi and ask meter and
point the the front of the dashboard. Some will say no, so move on until you find a taxie that will use the meter. It sounds odd but I found that the price in about 50% less than a tuk tuk. Take your time and take in the the real old Bangkok. I don't understand why so many tourist, stay at a big fancy hotel, do some shopping and go home having no idea what a country is really like, I am not saying you should not stay at a 5 stare hotel ,I do at some locations. They should stay home save money on airfare and and travel time and look at photos of places they would like to visit. Enjoy Bangkok its a very fun and interesting city.

In the three hostels we stayed in our recent trip to Bangkok-Phnom Penh-Siem Reap, our stay in Rambuttri Inn was our least favorite. Actually, most of the staff in the front desk were just ok except for one who seem to be annoyed at every guest she talks to. Upon check-in, you are to find your own way to your room. They did not have a staff to help you to your room and carry your bags. We weren't bagpackers and our room was at the third floor at the wing with no elevator so we had to carry our luggages. I know this is a budget inn, but comparing to guesthouses I stayed before and in Cambodia, they had staff to help you carry your luggage if they did not have elevators... Room was pretty standard as expected, not as nice as shown in the website and bathroom pretty basic. Location though is great as mentioned in other reviews. I would recommend people to stay in said inn for the location. Just don't expect that much from the inn and the staff...
