stayed here 2 nights just before leaving for myanmar, and again before heading home.

we walked in around midnight after cancelling our reservation at a different hotel within the vicinity. the room they gave us at that hotel had insects crawling in the bedroom and bathroom.

check in was quick, took less than 10 minutes.

the room (a-218) given us at rambuttri village was bright, very clean, comfortable, spacious. it had airconditioning, in-room safe, cable tv, closet, bedside tables but no mini-ref. the towels provided were thick and almost new. the rate was 800 baht a night paid in cash (they do not accept credit cards) plus refundable 1000 baht for the key deposit.

we asked that our room be cleaned the next day, and when we got back, the room was literally the cleanest we've had so far, the cleaning lady did a very good job.

when we left, we rented a safety deposit box at the lobby for 20 baht a day with 200 baht refundable key deposit, luggage storage was also 20 baht per piece a day. laundry service is available in the next building.

the staff was helpful but a bit abrupt, probably because of the volume of people who needed to be attended to.

booked a single room (700) baht through booking.com when we returned. the room (e-303) was in a different wing, smaller but with a large bed, but not as clean as the one in the other wing.

loved that both hotel wings had elevators to help us with our luggage. this hotel has just what we need.

Room Tip: ask to be booked in a wing that has an elevator

This is a basic no frills hotel - with a swimming pool.
The rooms are medium sized with tiled floors - clean bathrooms with hot shower, toilet and hand basin.
Each room has a TV with a few western channels (bbc, al Jazeer, movies,AXN + Nkk + korean and chinese channel)
The AC is good and there is room for your suitcases and hanger for clothes.
There is an elevator to get you to your
room (beats lugging your bags up 5 flights of stairs (as I have done in other places nearby)
You can have your room cleaned / have towels changed each day - but you must ask.
Front desk service is" get the job done" attitude, but is fast and effective.
Don't loose your key deposit + be sure to get your 1000 bht refund.
Its not a hilton or even an Ibis... But for the price it provides a good night sleep and a pool to chill by pool.

We had a great stay here; particularly good location for Thailand backpacker district although not so great for public transport links (we mostly used taxis which, if you insist on their using a meter, are really quite cheap). Good 'glampacker' option with great pool on the roof and decent air-conditioning.

Whenever I am in Bangkok this is the place I stay at. Khao Sarn reminds me of my backpacking days when I practically lived there and I can't help but being drawn back to it. Besides, the big tower hotels in the central district hold now appeal to me at all. In Banglampu they can't build high rises which makes it feel a bit less intense some how, especially close to the river. This place is cheap and dont expect luxury, but its a step above the rest and the outstanding feature that makes this place is the rooftop pool. You will need it! PS the staff are always cranky and unhelpful, probably they don't get paid enough to smile..

Stayed here with my wife for a vacation. Everything was good except for the the following:

1. They couldn't move us to a single queen bed. had to sleep in separate small beds.
2. They were cleaning their septic tank the whole day! it should have been done in the night time so that we would have been in our rooms and not sniff ourselves out with the nasty aroma that pervaded the whole lobby.

However, for the price and location, I would say the place is ok and will give you your money's worth. I would probably come backe here again
