Clean hotel in central location
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Sept 2012
We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights on a recent trip to Bangkok. The hotel itself was very clean and well looked after by the staff. Room was cleaned every day (except the bathroom) and fresh water was provided daily. Location was fantastic,being right next door to restaurants, bars and the like.

Unfortunately, the staff were pretty unfriendly. They never really smiled at us and when we asked them to book us a taxi to get to the train station, they refused. This wasn't exactly helpful.

Stayed there at the first three nights and the last two nights of my trip. Its a very clean hotel, with two very nice rooftop pools. The rooms have ac, television and a very nice private bathroom. The staff was very nice and helpful. Its very near to the Khao San Road, so its more quite at night and you can sleep. Next to the hotel are many places where you get cheap breakfast/ food. i definitely will stay there again.

Room tip: i stayed in few different floor almost nice

The best part about the hotel is its location, bang on Khao San road and fairly close to all the touristy places of Bangkok. Hotel is cheap (about USD 20 a night) so you really cant expect much apart from a clean room. The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are enough eating joints around it. Although there is a swimming pool, it closes at 6 P.M. so never got a chance to use it. The reception staff can be a bit more courteous. Bottomline, if you are on a tight budget, its a great place to stay.

since moving to Thailand, i have visited Bangkok 7 or 8 times-
each time i stay at Rambuttri Village Plaza,
a great budget option on one of my fave streets in Bangkok,
Soi Rambuttri
(with the exception of my 1st 2 trips to Bangkok Sept 08 & Nov 09)
far less expensive option than raucous Khao San Rd 1 block away
or faraway, congested Sukhumvit,
in the Banglamphu District, across from Wat Songram Chana,
1 block over from chaotic, (in)famous Khao San Rd;
a short walk to Sanam Luang & the Grand Palace,
& other worthwhile museums, etc.
many great restaurants on Soi Rambuttri, especially after you cross the main rd
after walking south from hotel
(on s.w. corner a smiling, busy lady sets up from 6 a.m.-p.m.
selling delicious chicken or pork w/rice & sauce; at noon her daughter
[as unsmiling as her mom is smiling], brings the ducks- heaven on a plate!!!)
50 meters down several other great food shops & street stalls on both sides
of street, in the evening, great nightlife w/several venues featuring live music,
further down past the bend, great silver jewelry shops, great shopping;
sedate yet lively, its a world away from nearby debauched Khao San Rd
the Hotel itself features clean, basically appointed rooms, on the smallish size,
but exceptional good value for money considering its location
also internet shop downstairs
truly a very nice oasis on one of my fave Bangkok streets, charming Soi Rambuttri
downstairs in the plaza, amongst verdantly landscaped grounds
surrounding a beautiful large koi pond, there are 2 restaurants:
1) wonderful British cafe w/GREAT coffee, surprisingly good & tasty food,
(interestingly enough, try their chili- quite yummy!!!) & smiling staff
2) an excellent Indian restaurant w/rather authentic & delicious food
i have read the other reviews; i must say i have never seen the staff be anything more than patient despite being almost constantly busy in the morning through mid-afternoon hours w/many rude, pushy & clueless guests-
i have seen many visitors (obviously 1st timers to Thailand) getting upset,
talking too fast, or trying to impose their will & bend hotel policy-
at that point, virtually ALL staff in Thailand will stop paying attention,
until you cool down & be reasonable, i personally have witnessed this often
(for instance, right in front of me at check-in last time,
people were arguing about leaving the required 1000 baht deposit)-
that time upon leaving, i even lost my receipt & the staff still smilingly refunded it
the 7th floor pool terrace is big w/stunning 360 degree views of Bangkok;
(note in case mngmnt reads this: keep it open until after sunset,
-right now, closes at 6 p.m.-
maybe evenings as well, to take advantage of the perfect pool & great view
w/a little bar serving beverages soft & hard in plastic cups... just a thought)
travelers not liking stairs please note that 2 wings of building w/elevators, 2 no eklevator

Room tip: each wing of building is 4-6 stories tall; only 2 wings have elevator (and can not be accessed from wings w/elevators) please be patient when dealing w/staff @check-in; they are professionals, but extremely busy w/often difficult, misunderstanding people, & a kind word or genuine smile from you might get a more than pleasant surprise in return...

The reception is very busy a lot of the time so maybe this explains the mediocre service. You also have to leave a cash deposit or a credit card pre authorisation which should be made very clear before arriving!

The room is clean enough and is quite spacious. We had a room with air conditioning which is worth every penny you pay extra on booking. The difference is next to nothing so make sure you have a room with air con.

The hotel is situated 2 mins away from khoa san road so its in the heart of Bangkok. It has a rooftop pool which is prob the best feature of the hotel. It was also cheap approx 12GBP or 600 baht per night. I would recommend this to travellers on a budget but not to those who are looking for a liitle more quality.

I was looking forward to spending my last night travelling in a slightly "better" place but I am very disappointment. staff is unbelievable unfriendly (apperently you are supposed to read minds as they sometimes just dont talk to you - I had to ask three times if the wifi is for free before getting a nod) ...moreover they charge you extra for every extra service (e.g. luggage storage).
I stayed in a single room and the bed must have had wheels as it was moving with every tiny move I did. the aircon blew directly on my head and I could hear every word the people in the room next to me spoke. ....and there was no toilet paper in the room at first.
I stayed in many better places for a lot(!!!) less money. never again!
