Rambuttri Village Inn & Plaza
Ranked #280 of 889 Hotels in Bangkok
Reviewed 10 June 2014 via mobile

The rooms are basic and accommodating with a bed, window, desk and wet room which is all you need.
The staff are the rudest staff I have ever come across which is very unlike Thai staff in hotels. Completely unprofessional and didn't believe me that when I moved rooms THEY lost a form during the process and then charged me to photocopy my passport!
I did not come across one member of staff thaf was nice or pleasant to talk to. I feel sorry for the rooms to be under such bad staffing, as really they are absolutely fine to stay in.
If you're a non-smoker, like I am, you need to be aware that this a smoking hotel and if you want your room to smell like a chimney at all times, then stay here.
I was shown to one room and someone clearly had been smoking in it previously and I told the guy (only male at reception) it was smokey and he said "No, not smokey" yet it clearly was. I complained to reception and said it is too smokey for someone with asthma and they said they would clean the room- no air freshener would get rid of that smell. I complained once again and they moved me to another room which wasn't smokey from the inside but the smell was coming in from the hallway. Eventually during my stay I learnt to shut the bathroom door and only the bathroom will smell of cigarettes rather than your bed and clothes.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I'm someome who writes faur reviews but the staff need to take some courses in customer care before they shout at clients and expect the hotel to keep being popular.

If you're a smoker this hotel is for you but one would hope that there would be areas in the building where it is non-smoking so you didn't have to breathe in second hand smoke all the time.

Just down the road is Chillax resort a 4* hotel I would recommend a million times that although pricier than here, is totally worth your money. I stayed here with a friend because I didn't want to stay at Rambuttri and even left a day early from the hotel because I couldn't wait to leave.

Pros of the hotel are good location to restaurants but the best restaurants and cafes are located around Chillax such as Snack Bar, Wunderbar, Ricky's, Cozy House and Joke (something) which does the best ThaI food you'll come across.

Great place to stay if you are looking for cheap accommodation. Don't expect too much, you get what you pay for. Rooms are tidy and it's close to Kao San Road and all the mayor tourist attractions (Wat Pho, Grand Palace and Wat Arun).

If you want an adventure trip and you dont wanna pay much for stay the night, this is your place. Cheap and funny. Have a lot of people like you, adventurers, great food in the restaurant nearest the hotel. And one of the best streets in Bangkok is in front of the hostel!!! Kah Shan Road!!!! For us is the best place to stay in BKK, but if you want luxury maybe not is your hostel!!!

Room Tip: If You can take the double room, its cheaper than the others.

We did not stay in the hotel, but found the restaurant, which is set back from Rambuttri Road. This is modern Thai Food, and it's wonderful, Duck Laarb, was an eye catching one, which I will try tomorrow. The Green Papaya Salad was too die for, salty, sweet, spicy and refreshing. My dish was perfectly balanced, spice, heat, salt and lots of flavor, Krab pow.. He had Red Penang Curry, and it was creamy, spicy, sweet and fragrant.

This is real Thai Food, not watered down to foreigners taste buds. The atmosphere was romantic and relaxing, the price abut 400 B with 2 soft drinks. Service swift and friendly. Really worth a visit.

This hotel is an ideal location for tourists as its very close to Khao San road but far enough away from the thick of the noise. The rooftop pool is amazing after a hot day of exploring the city. However there isn't much more I can positively comment about. Our rooms was very basic, and smelt of cigarette smoke and the air con was very noisy. The corridors also had a very bad odour at times - suspect it was because the bathroom vents opened up into the corridors. Overall, very average hotel.

This hotel was truly built in a very strategic place. Very near to Khao San road, the surrounding is amazing & full with tourist attractions. There's a lot of restaurants, clubs & shops for you to choose. Just a guide for any muslim tourist, there's a few halal restaurants nearby,so no need to worry and start your food travel. Plus, there's a muslim community behind this hotel & even a mosque. Ask around & even the staff here will help you. Lucky for us, our trip to Bangkok just before the curfew. So, we managed to enjoy our trip & stay in this hotel.

Roof top pool, location, and value. It’s pretty much everything you want when you are traveling. We stayed in a double room (2 single beds) with garden view. The room was standard but beds were very comfortable! Ensuite bathroom, A/C, TV and in room safe. They have free Wifi on the property. The username and password can be obtained from the front desk. Each login is for a single connection / 2 day limit, but we just kept going down and asking for more login slips and they never questioned us about it.

The rooftop pool is a great little oasis to socialize and meet others or to simply relax. The pool closes after 6PM so make sure you get some time in the water before it closes. There is a 711 and Subway Sandwiches shop downstairs and restaurants just down the Ram Buttri street. A block away is Khaosan Road (3 minute walk) has just about everything. Known as the backpackers district, you’ll find a lot of foreigners here - great if you want to meet other travellers. Lots of pubs and parties all night here definitely worth checking out.

We stayed for 5 nights, and for the price will definitely be coming back. Thanks for the hospitality!
