“good value for money in the backpacker's area”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

This place has it all. Comfortable clean rooms with AC, TV, a safe and a bathroom. It's right where the action is, but set back from the street it's quiet. The staff is friendly and helpfull. There's a rooftop pool. Just really good value for money.

Let's start with the positives...this hotel is in a great area, very close to Khao San Road and down an alleyway that is great for just sitting in and watching people go by. But, that's it. The reception staff are very unhelpful and verge on very rude. There is a 1000bht deposit (only in cash and only baht) that must be left, not very handy when you are leaving Thailand after this hotel. Sleep will be non existant if you stay here, you can hear everything happening in the hotel, from drunken backpackers to children screaming (I am writing this at 5am on my last night here) The hotel itself needs a decent clean and updating, yes it has a pool, but don't believe the hotel photos, there is mould growing in the tiles and there are no cushions on the loungers so very uncomfortable (for those that are not broken) Stay somewhere else if you want a decent hotel.

It was my first hotel in south east Asia and I booked the hotel before I arrived for 7 nights and that was actually to long for Bangkok I think 3 or 4 nights would be enough anyhow it was a good hotel for it's value

A great place to stay if your in town for a couple of days. They have a swimmingpool a great breakfast and clean rooms. The location is right at the hart of the backpacker area, but the hotel itself is quietly placed around their own courtyard. The royal palace and the main temples are nearby, as are a lot of restaurants.

Only thing is that you hear almost everything that is said on the hallway. So be quiet and hope that others will do the same.

Last thing: don't ask the reception to call you a cab to the airport. They will charge you a fixed price of 480 bath, which (as with all cabs with fixed prices in Bangkok) is way too expensive. Walk 100 meter to the street and insist that the taxi-driver uses the meter. This will cost around 200 bath + 75 for highway toll.

If you want to stay in the Kao Shan area, this is a good choice - right next to it & still slightly away.
We had no trouble with the noise some people are mentioning. The seconhand bookseller a few steps away is one of the best in SE Asia. Hotel has a strange wi-fi policy, though - only one user per password so you need to settle this with your cohabitant ;-) ...

If you like the Khao San Road atmosphere this tourist factory is probably a great place. Swimmingpool closes at 18:00. Just when you need it.
Drunken guests returning from Kao San tend to disturb your sleep.
For the same price you'll get a far better hotel in a less touristic area. You need to pay 1.000 bath cash as a deposit. What are you going to do with 1.000 bath on the day you return home?

Rooms are nice, clean and all comforts. It's in the best location in an alley just off the lively soi rambuttri rd therefore quiet.
Staff is friendly; breakfast is nice and abundant. The street offers market stalls, delicious street food, atm, 7/11 and all the necessary. Not a far walking distance from grand palace and you can cool off from the heat in the rooftop swimming pool..i would definitely come back
