Royal Ivory Sukhumvit Nana By Compass Hospitality
Ranked #718 of 883 Hotels in Bangkok
Reviewed 28 December 2012

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times in the last 2 years with the last time being December 2012. The hotel provides a consistent service of clean large rooms with an average buffet breakfast. I have heard some short bursts of noise from drunken guests over the last year but generally I keep coming back and will be there again next year. Within the price range I do not believe there to be anything better.

There is a very small pool, a bar and a restaurant that allows you to sit and watch the orld pass by on soi 4. That is why I come here - the Landmark 5 star around the corner where I used to stay does not have this facility.

The staff are reasonably friendly and I have even started getting the garden facing room I request. The rooms the other way can be a few feet from an apartment block.

Dear Khun Michael P,

Always love to have you here sir, thank you for your generous compliments. We try our best to serve guests and would really love for everyone to have the best of what we have. Most guest prefer our beautiful garden view rooms while others enjoy the rather dim and quite room which is optimal for guest who loves to sleep-in on their holiday. We would love to thank you again for choosing Royal Ivory and wish you all the best in this New Year, until we meet again sir!

I was here for good 12-13 nights last year around October end, and I should say the place is definitely value for money. Rooms are big, airy and clean. All the hotel staff is more than willing to help at all times. Great housekeeping keeps the place really clean. Everyday when I used to return back to the room, bed used to be made perfectly. Sheets and towels always used to be clean.

It’s an old place and needs some upkeep specially the mattresses. Originally mattresses in my room used to hurt my back while sleeping, but they got that taken care of and rest of my stay was good.

Morning breakfast was always good with good choice of eggs, noodles, fruits, cereals, etc.

Hotel is very conveniently located near BTS Skytrain station, restaurants, Pubs, shopping and business centers and always offers free drops to the station and nearby places.

All in all it was a good stay.

Room Tip: Avoid front facing rooms. Sometimes it can get a bit noisy.

Dear Deval Pune,

Thank you for your compliments and feedback, we are glad you enjoyed the stay at the Ivory and we would love to have you guys here again. Our room was designed and indent for family and couple stay, we are glad that you like the traditional homely Thai design which may be seen as a bit antique but true portrays the essence of Thai artwork. Each guest has difference bed preference hence we offer few choices to personalise guests stay, we are sorry to checked you into the special mattress room without notice, but I am glad you notify us of our misstep. Thank you again for your generous compliments, have a lovely day ka.
As mentioned, royal Ivory offers a serene location hidden in Nana district, which another centre of Bangkok), yet it is just minutes away from shopping centres, park and convention centre

We booked this hotel because it was barely £30 per night including breakfast and because it has a quiet position away from nearby nightlife. We got what we paid for.
Staff were universally smiling and friendly and couldn't do enough to help us and, while rooms had funiture which was looking a little tired, everything was scrupulously clean in the bathroom and the bed linen was so crisp you could bounce a penny on it. I stayed in 312 facing the garden and always got a good night's sleep.
Each room had its own secure safe and, when we checked out, we were able to leave our luggage safely for several hours in a heavily padlocked room.
Breakfast was solidly adequate without being particularly inventive and included excellent omelettes and a range of other food from ham and bacon to Thai and oriental dishes, orange juice, coffee, tea, toast, jam and marmalade, more than adequate for a solid start to the day.
Internet facilities were available close to the hotel which had wifi, there were laundries nearby and numerous bars at the Nana complex were only a five-minute walk away.
In summary, this is not luxury accommodation but if you are looking for somewhere simple and clean to stay which is quiet but still close to all the bars, restaurants and nightlife then the Royal Ivory may fit the bill.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the garden for a peaceful night.

This hotel was was part of a Bangkok vacation package I purchased from a travel agency.
My wife and I spent 2 nights at the Royal Ivory and we loved it. We were greeted warmly by its staff but were told that our pre-booked room was not ready (this should not happen to any one though). So, we went to its restaurant and had breakfast till our room got ready. The breakfast buffet they provided was of nice.
The room given to us was really nice, clean and quiet. The bathroom was spacious.
The location of the hotel is really good too. It's near to nice restaurants, spa centers and 4 big malls - Siam center, Siam paragon, MBK and Centerworld (about 15-20 min walk) Money changers and spa centers are plenty, so I advice to look around to check for good rates.
All in all, we found the hotel a great value for the money. The staff, food and the location are great.

Room Tip: Do not take cabs what are parked at the hotel. Just walk for sometime - to a nearby main road - and...

Dear Massi007,

Thank you for staying at the Royal Ivory Nana 4, we hope you have enjoyed the rest of Thailand as you enjoy Royal Ivory, I would like to personally endorse your valuable tip. Most cabs in front of the Hotel overcharge guest and would not go by meter. Thank you for your compliments, Royal Ivory team always tries our best to serve all guests, to make you feel comfortable, homely and secured. We sincerely hope you select us as your hotel next time you guys come to Bangkok.

another place i always use as a 1-3 night stopover in BKK . just a homley place just like an old aristo fallen from grace,I love it, nice big rooms always clean. creaky lift , actually rather good room service food. all reasonably priced . a bit of a ships that pass in the night sort of place. staff nice and friendly in an oldfasioned way , this is another what you see is what you get place. great situation near enough to the night life of Nana to walk but far enough not to see or hear it. but close to the sky train which gives you access to the whole city, i still use the tuktuks or if rushhour use taxibikes, pennies and quick.

Room Tip: higher the better

I stayed in this hotel from Sep 13 to Sep 16 along with my family members..got the best price when i booked earlier through net..it was around 1100 Bahts for superior twin rooms with breakfast included..Rooms were clean ,the bellboys were very helpful in carrying my large baggage on & off the room, Staffs can understand english(but not that well)..Staffs were smiling and very friendly..They offered me free Tuk Tuk ride to NANA BTS whenever i demanded.. The room service was also good , they changed the bedsheets ,emptied the trash cans, kept new mineral water bottles and refill packs of instant coffee powder on all the three days i stayed..Food was of okayish type( menu was more or less the same on all the three days)..Atleast what else can u expect for the 1100 baht u pay..everything was great except the location..It was in the prime part of the city & easily accessible to all places, no second opinion in that...But it is located amidst a lot of pubs and bars..girls in pubs & bars who are literally half nude are an eyesore..Except that i felt comfortable with all the other things and i enjoyed my stay there..will surely stay in royal ivory when i come next time to Bangkok..

NOTE: Never ever accept taxi rides from drivers waiting outside the hotel..they are big touts..they ll take u to places where they get hefty commissions instead of the place u say and completely spoil the days itinerary( i was a victim on my day 1 of stay)..My suggestion is just walk a bit away from the hotel and flag down a moving taxi instead of a stationary taxi..else avail the free tuk tuk ride to nana bts and there in sukhumvit road u can get hundreds of taxi..Please dont fall prey to the taxi drivers who are waiting outside the hotel to catch you..

I agree with you sir, Taxi in Sukhumvit area are not service minded but rather business cats, please like many professions there are always the good and the bad, in this case the risk of getting scam by Sukhumvit Taxi are high especially when it comes to tourist.
