I absolutely LOVED staying at Phranakon Nornlen and would definitely stay there again. It was a lush green wonderland in the middle of a very busy city. Inside the gates you practically forgot you were even in a city though. It is the most charming little place imaginable. If you are looking for 5 star luxury this isn't the place for you, but if you want to stay somewhere with personality and uniqueness I HIGHLY recommend it!!

The staff were the friendliest most helpful people I have ever met. I don't know if Tukta is still there, but she especially was outstanding. We were having trouble with our cell phone and she went to the local convenience store with us to translate and when that didn't work gave us an old phone of the hotel's and just asked that we mail it back at the end of our trip.

The breakfasts were more food than you could possibly eat not to mention delicious!

The beds were a little bit hard but that seemed sort of standard everywhere we went in Thailand. A small price to pay for the overall wonderfulness of the place!

Thanks a lot for your compliment! yes PN is really not a kind of place for everyone since we have a concept which is not about luxury living but the harmony and creativity by making use of environmental friendly materials. Our staff are not trained to serve guests in a formal way but learn how to treat everyone as a friend with respect and make them feel warmed and welcoming. Tukta is now helping us on the walking tour, we design this program to bring our guests to see and explore the real charm of Thailand f as a local thai!

It is the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. Probably that's because Thailand is the best place on Earth I've been to. It's perfect: the smiling staff, the simple food, the cheerful massage, the view from the upstairs bar-greenhouse... I could write an essay or a short story dozen pages long mentioning all the details that make this place so special, but I'm choosing to stay a little selfish and keep some secrets to myself... I just envy anyone lucky enough to stay there. Enjoy every minute of it!

Thank you for helping us to keep a little secret of PN! We only have 30 rooms so it's a benefit for us to focus on little details such as breakfasts and hand painting, we also don't do advertising or online travel agent to make sure we have communicated with every guest long before they arrived Bangkok! Have a slow life :)

We only stayed here one night, but would have gladly stayed here longer! It's a very private, charming hotel that blends french country with thai design. There are plenty of perks, like a delicious, made-to-order breakfast, snacks and drinks, macs to use, and so much charm. My only critique is it's so tucked into an alley it can be hard to find. Be sure to print out the provided map to give to the taxi driver otherwise you'll never find it!

We stayed here in March and had a wonderful visit. the hotel is down a side street in a residential area, so very quiet and relaxing. As mentioned by others it has a lovely courtyard area to sit and have a coffee or talk to others staying there.
It is hard to get taxi drivers to find their way here though, and perhaps the hotel could provide cards to give the taxi or tuk tuk drivers to show them where it is. Although, after the first day we got quite good at showing drivers where to go on our maps and it led to lots of laughs and smiles from our drivers when we tried to pronounce streets and roads etc. Plus of course fares are so cheap it didn't really matter if it took a bit longer.
The rooms are delightfully designed and decorated and very quaint. The breakfasts are great, something different every day from curries to sweet things, but always fresh well prepared and delivered by a lovely polite youngster (who was on school holidays during out period there). The rooms are quite basic (no storage, wardrobes or safe etc ) and the bathroom in the room we had bad drainage and a pretty bad smell at times, but this couldn't detract from the 'cuteness' of the rooms.
The place is really like an oasis in Bangkok and we loved getting back to the hotel each evening after braving Bangkok's shops and markets etc :-) The CD they have in the rooms of relaxing music was a delightful end to the day.
Because the hotel is in a residential area, there are plenty of great local food places everywhere around, and we had some marvellous meals either at the food stalls across the road (try the hotpot) or at small restaurants just steps from the hotel. Also some great little local shops within walking distance...the bakery around the corner sold lovely little handmade biscuits which we bought for our girls back home.
Unlike other reviewers though I did not find the reception staff helpful at all (perhaps we just came across a few who were new ) They weren't rude, but just were unable to assist with anything we asked them, which was a surprise to us. Still they didn't help with a smile so you can't get upset :-)
This was probably the most enjoyable place I have stayed in Bangkok, with a lovely atmosphere and vibe to it. Will definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it for a family place to stay

So sorry about the service in the reception krub! We will communicate with the reception staff and give them a bit more training, some of those are students who studied hospitality in the school so they are still fresh in terms of service, we will keep in mind and hope to serve you better next time :)

We stayed at this boutique hotel for 2 nights on our way back to Amsterdam and loved it so much that we will go back for sure the next time we visit the city. Warm, lovely and helpful people that run the hotel. Great food, stylish but cosy interior and wifi throughout the premises. Make sure to check out the roof terrace as wel!

A unique atmosphere. You are located in the north of Bangkok, well away from the tourist traps. This is wonderful if you want to feel like a local. A bit of a challenge when you are trying to find somewhere to eat or asking one of the taxi drivers to take you back to the hotel. The good news is that transport is so cheap and abundant in Bangkok that its really not a problem to grab a Tuk-Tuk, Taxi or the Ferry boat to get to the hotel. You can walk to the Muy Thai boxing and Koh San road although allow 20 minutes for each. Anything else needs transport.

The rooms are each unique. We loved the amazing artwork in our room - like nothing you've seen before. The rooms are ultra basic - but there is air conditioning and clean sheets. All we really needed. There are lockers near reception to put your valuables in.

The staff were funny and friendly. Ok - some of the more junior guys had no idea what was going on, but their personalities shone through. So many more characters than the big chain hotels.

Breakfast was delicious- it was interesting to have hot curry first thing in the morning, but we wanted to try it all and the fruits were a good alternative- and dinner was great value.

Whilst we were there, there was a Thai religious celebration going on near by which meant a very loud chanting from first light until 11pm. Certainly made us feel like we weren't in Kansas anymore! I would recommend checking if its on in early March if you are looking for a peaceful time.

The Thai massage in the hotel was really cheap, and was agony. Did us lots of good though!

If you are looking for corporate / luxury hotelling, this isn't for you. If you are looking for ultra-budget and backpacking, this isn't for you. If you are looking for a unique, genuine service and a special place in a special city, go here in a heartbeat.

Overall - if we go back to Bangkok, we will stay here again. A super-chilled experience. Which is all you can say really. Super.

Room Tip: You can walk to the Muy Thai boxing from the hotel

Kob krub mak kaa! Your kind review has helped us to make more people to understand our style, service & belief. And those who look for "off-the-beaten-path" will certainly arrive the right place, it's true that PN is not for everyone as we don't just simply treat it as a guest house business but a small community for like minded people to get together. Every March there is a temple fair nearby us and which is actually quite a charm because you can get to know more about our culture (you can visit there and certainly not told on the guide book). Thanks again for your recommendation & we hope to see you again in the future :)

A hidden gem in rustling and bustling of Bangkok City. It is like entering a fairy tale forest palace. We had the birds-room, which made me feel absolutely like a princess.
Food is good although portions are small.
Staff is very friendly.
