“The Only Place to Stay in Bangkok”
Reviewed 10 August 2009

Having chosen to stay at the PN from reading other trip advisor reviews I was certainly not disappointed. We had arranged an airport transfer with them and our driver waited to collect us from Bangkok airport even though we were an hour and a half later than planned and couldn't have been nicer - buying us bottles of water -v welcome after our long journey and endless queues through passport control! I have never encountered such friendly and helpful staff who made our stay a pleasure and could not do enough for us. They gave us advice both on Bangkok and helped us arrange our onward travels in Thailand and hotel bookings. The courtyard and rooftop terrace are both beautiful and in such contrast to the (enjoyable!) madness of Bangkok. The rooms are immaculate, comfortable, with aircon and charming with their individual hand painted walls - no they don't have all the additional amenities of a 4 star hotel but thats not what its about. Free wifi, free use of iMacs, lovely breakfasts ..... I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Stayed here with my wife for two nights after arrival in Bangkok. The hotel is about 20 min. walk to Khao San Road.
The whole concept of the hotel -a quiet relaxed getaway from hectic Bangkok- is done very well and you will find this throughout the whole hotel.
Rooms are basic, but spacious and clean (as was the whole hotel). Mattress in our room was quite hard, but we sleept very well. We loved the CD player with three CD's for morning / afternoon / Nighttime.
The little courtyard / dining room is very relaxing and offers free use of computers / internet. The meals they serve here are great! Not a lot of choice, but all very tasty authentic Thai meals. All ingredients come from their roof garden.

Staff was also very friendly and helpfull. All in all a great hotel for us.
If you expect Hilton luxury, don't go here, because you will not find it at Phranakorn. If you want to relax and understand what this hotel is about, you will have a great time here!

This Oasis in chaotic Bangkok is a must stay. Every details was paid attention from your arrival from the airport to your departure!
The hotel (it looks more like a close community) is very well located just north of the old city and is near to top attractions or you can take a very cheap taxi. It is located on a soi (backstreet) so be sure to print their map to hand it out to the taxi driver. Once you arrived, you'll see how everything is warm, friendly on a human-scale environment. Everything is nicely decorated.
The staff is very informative, friendly, and will try to accommodate you with everything they can.
The room is just the right size. We had a private balcony with a nice view of the backyard. The bed was very comfortable, with all the pillows too XD.
The bathroom is original, i love the big straight down shower head. I love how all the decorations and design are all hand-made.
If you have kids, the place is perfect too as they have a lot of spaces for them. They also have a place for thai massage that I haven't tried. I did however had a taste of their Pad-Thai and it was the best one I have ever tried! Their breakfast is a must too! Everything is good and organic. The price is really low for what they are offering!

This hotel was so nice. From the people, to the food, to the atmosphere, it was just what we needed. Even though Bangkok has much to offer, we looked forward to returning to the hotel each night. AND, breakfast is AMAZING! So good! I looked forward to it each day.

We also went on a walking tour with Nuu, who was SO NICE! It was free and she introduced us to a lot of Thai things that we never would have seen before.

The people here are unparalleled. Honestly, I can't say enough. If you are looking for a relaxing place that is just the retreat you're looking for from Bangkok's craziness, this is the place for you.

There was one thing we had a problem with though, which was minor. The hotel IS smaller, and thus, not as well known as the bigger hotels, so finding a Tuk-tuk or cab to take you there is sometimes difficult. Other than that, 5 stars all around.

I had the pleasure of staying at Phranakorn at the beginning and end of my Thailand trip. What a wonderful place to escape the craziness of Bangkok! The staff were all warm and friendly, the outdoor spaces lovely and shady and the breakfasts were delicious! And having tea delivered to my room every evening was wonderful. I loved both the rooms I stayed in - 201 and 301. Even though they were right at the head of the stairs there was very little noise. My sister and her husband stayed in 2 other rooms down the hall on the second floor and they said they could hear noise when people came in - but that it wasn't horrible. The rooms are very simply furnished but the wall murals make them quite lovely. This hotel is off the beaten path, but I liked being in work-a-day Bangkok instead of surrounded by other tourists. I felt I got to see a side of the city I might not have seen staying somewhere else. It is very close to the river so we used the Chao Praya boat service to get around. My only complaint is that the beds were hard and that there were no comfy chairs downstairs. However, it was like that in every hotel I was in throughout the country so I guess it's a Thai thing. Overall, I loved Phranakorn and would love to go back!

My Family chose this hotel as we had seen how highly it had been rated on Trip Advisor! It is everything everyone has said - absolutely fantastic.
The hotel is out of the way of the tourists, which for us was a good thing. it is literally 2mins from the Sky Train and underground trains which makes travelling around the city incredibly easy.
We used the hotel for leisure for 2 days before continuing our holiday in Phuket and during our stay there the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean, very modern... They offer free high speed Internet wired or wireless, dining in the hotel is really very good and great value for money!
We will be back again.
