The hotel is located near Grand Palace, Wat Po, Wat Arun and Khaosan Road. If you are traveling solo this is the best hotel to meet fellow backpackers. Good price.Nice location.

Trust what everyone else is saying about this hotel and stay somewhere else. Rooms are ok for the hotel price and class, and the location is pretty good being right in the action. But everything else about this hotel - particularly the staff - is terrible. Staff refused to clean my room because you must make the request before 1pm (it was 2pm), but they don't tell you this on checkin. The ladyboy receptionist on duty in the evenings has a severe attitude issue and really let's the hotel down. They charge 10 baht per luggage if you want to store for the day after checking out - our group paid the money then changed our minds about storing the bags but we were not allowed a refund despite not using the service.

It's easy to do well with your money in Thailand - but this is certainly not the case at Sawasdee.

Our room was windowless, stained, and had leaky air conditioning. The bathroom was equally revolting and had no hot water. The TV did not work and we were afraid to leave anything in the room. When we complained about some of these things, and asked to check out early, we were told we would be charged extra for checking out before we initially proposed. The staff were very rude, argumentative, and made racist comments about 'you English people'.

Thankfully we did not have to stay more than two nights in this hellhole.

I cannot deter you enough - absolutely do not stay here.

Seemed like a nice place(Does NOT look like nice pictures) but friendly staff turned inept at the first problem. My new elec. adaptor blew and I was told likely because someone came into my room (not cleaning staff because did not see them or clean towel in whole week there...), I must have left my door open (really!? Don't think so!) etc. Refused to even come and check when 2nd adaptor blew and writing to the company could not elicit a response.Food ok but cheaper and better elsewhere. IF YOU WANT NOISE UNTIL AFTER 3AM, this is the place for you... just be sure to accept a room on the front of the building. Full blasting music(?) from bars across the road with drunken singers making their debut will keep you awake. No proper sleep for a week....SO GLAD TO HAVE LEFT. Bangkok, you won't be seeing me again! Either large commercial city or bars and pick-ups... Other better places to visit. Only stayed because visiting a friend nearby...

Room Tip: Pick somewhere else and carefully see what activity starts at dusk in area...

just a few words.. small rooms, do not book rooms with shared bathroom there! pretty dirty! it's better to have one for yourselves, as we had.. rats or mice probable in the room - just heard it and saw in the morning a guide book, lying on the floor, was bitten.. quite ok location - close to Rambutri Rd.

i checked in as fast as i checked out.
my first intial impression was good being greeted by a well mannered person.
The rooms was sufficent... but like alot of places surface cleaning is non existant.
They have a sign in the room saying contact reception before 1 pm. check out is at 12noon.
i checked out 5 mins late they charged me for the entire night.even though they knewi hd a bus in the afternoon. they ask for a key deposit of 5oo bhat.for exactly the reason they ripped me off. i asked about wifi they told me t was free. until i arrived in my room... it then became a paid service.overall i was abused by management andthats why i would spend my money somewhere else. ive never written a review before because i have never been so infurriated before of 4 years travellling. time to get to a beach away from a hostellike this one.

This was the most basic a room could get. We were on the top floor, no elevator.... the stairs were uneven and really steep and greasy, so easy to fall down. The room was... well... just a room. The bed was small for a double and the bed sheets had stains all over it. It had air con which was really needed, but it had two settings, freezing or off. And there weren't enough covers for the freezing setting. The window was covered just by plastic slats, and not proper glass, which meant that bugs could come in and out.

It was really noisy and the breakfast wasn't worth the money we paid for it. I went for continental which was two tiny pieces of toast and a smudge of jam and butter, fruit was dry.

The only good thing was the staff, they were friendly and spoke good english. However, were quite ready to rip us off on taxi rides....

it had a fairly good lcoation, near kho sarh road, but had to go through smell ally way to get there, not very safe for women travelling alone- very dark.

Wouldn't stay here again.
