We first stayed at the hotel in June 2014, before heading off on a 3 week trip around Thailand. We loved the hotel so much that we returned for 2 nights at the end of our trip, in early July.
The staff at the Siam are universally welcoming and friendly - so polite and eager to please. The waiting staff in the restaurant were particularly excellent, and made us feel very welcome. The hotel was fairly quiet when we first stayed, and the staff were able to relax amongst themselves. However, they were quick to include us in their fun.
The rooms are excellent. Like the rest of the hotel, the design is great, and they are well equipped and well maintained. The beds are extremely comfortable, the bathroom is very clean, and even the most basic rooms feel like a suite, with excellent amenities such as a sofa and a free to use safe. All of the rooms are situated on high floors, so have fantastic views of the city.
The pool area is lovely. The infinity pool has stunning views of the city, and is excellently maintained. Pool towels are freely available.
The food at the Siam is also great. Whilst prices in the evening are somewhat expensive compared to much of Bangkok, I cannot fault the food. I would recommend paying the extra for breakfast every morning, as it is fantastic. A wide range of hot and cold food is available, with lots of things cooked to order, such as eggs and omelettes.
Be sure to check out the cocktail bar on the rooftop - it offers stunning views and great drinks. Not to be missed!
The hotel is located in a great area - 2 major shopping malls with a variety of restaurants and shops are just a 5 minute walk away (Siam Discovery and MBK Centre). The Skytrain is also very close to the hotel, which is perfect for moving around the city.
If I were to make one criticism of the hotel, it would be that the tour operators located in the lobby can sometimes be a little pushy, but this is only a minor irritant.
On the whole, we loved the Siam, and cannot recommend it enough!
