“Best hostel I have ever stayed in”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

I have been travelling in SE Asia for two months now and nothing comes close to the brilliant customer service and atmosphere that we recieved at three of a kind.

The location is perfect (ten minutes away from the sky traina nd one stop away from the river) meaning that you are able to visit many of the best sites - reclining Buddah etc- with ease and get to experience both the water taxi and the insanely easy to use train system.

When we arrived we were given a map, asked if we needed anything and offered advice as t o where to go and the cheapest way of doing things (the best thing for a traveller ever.) When we got back from a day of site seeing the downstairs room was full of other people staying in the hostel and there was a big communal meanl that was bought by the hostel staff. Owned and run by a British ex pat and two Thai ladies who are all aged 25-30 means that the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. We went to Koa San road with a group of ten people from the hostel and it cost us 150 baht between 5.

On the second night the owners took us to a bar that their firends owned and it was a really chilled, nice way to see a bit of Bangkok that is a bit different. The staff enjoy the company of the guests and truly want to make everything as fun and easy as possible.

I could not recomend Three of Kind more if I tried!!!

P.S. If you guys are reading this - me and my sister made it to Chiang Rai even with the lost purse/passport fiasco.

We absolutely loved three of a kind! The place was adorable- cool, artsy decor and very international. Angkrit was so personable and told us a bunch of great recommendations for Bangkok and Thailand in general. On our second night there we had a dinner with everyone at the guest house- home cooked meal, family style! So delicious and so fun to get to know our hosts better. AC in the room was great plus an awesome rooftop area to hangout! Perfect for morning wake up or a beer in the afternoon. The location was also great- easy to get to bts line, lots of food around! This place is new (just opened in April) and it's obvious they are very committed to making it a great spot in Bangkok. I imagine it will just keep getting better. We'd definitely go back and would recommend to everyone!

With an increased influx of tourists, many places in Thailand become disillusioned and overly commercialized. They started regarding their guests as enemies, rather than, well.. guests.

In 'Three of a kind', a newly opened hostel in the western part of the city this is definitely not the case. The place is run by a group of Thai and Western friends, who have been travelling the world themselves and know the pains and joys of travellers. Right from the beginning we felt like at home.

Location: The hostel is located in a quiet side street, about 5 min walk from the BTS. Another 10 min walk will get you to the river. There is also a busy market with restaurants and a small shop nearby.

Rooms: rooms are all tidy and each one has their own flair with paintings andpostcards. Dorm rooms have individual reeading lamps and power outlets. Lockers are also available, as is Wifi.

Other amenities: there are 2 common areas, one in the first floor and a charming terrace on the top. They also serve breakfast. I expect the menu to be expanded over time, as some of the guys were truly into cooking. On our last day, they served lovely hot pot dinner and dessert for all the guests.

To sum it up, I think this place has great potential and I'm excited to see how it will look like a few months from now.

What a great find! Staff made me feel so welcome. Centrally located, close to BTS and Silom, yet so quiet being tucked away down a small Soi. So different from Khao San Road, if you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet. Great roof top area to chill out. Breakfasts also very tasty. Thanks guys. Will come back for sure.:-)

My time at the Three of a Kind hostel was excellent. The people who run it are nice and friendly. I felt like I was staying at a friend's house. I stayed two extra nights. The location is nice, next to the Myanmar embassy and off of Silom road. The facilities are clean and nice with good airconditioning. It had a great price too. Go there!

We ended up booking this hostel due to a booking error so we needed a place to stay for the night and I'm glad we chose this place. It was the first hostel we have stayed at on our trip and it was exactly what I expected. Soon as you walk in the hostel feels homely and the staff are friendly and a good laugh when the beers were flowing.we got the twin room with a/c for a very reasonable price and it was spotless. Couldn't fault this place, 10/10.

Friendly hosts and great vibes all round would recommend this place to anyone. Really chilled out main room and the rooftop was amazing, you can just hang out and enjoy yourself with a couple of beers and a really friendly environment.
