Aurum The River Place
Ranked #276 of 894 Hotels in Bangkok

And to read all these positive reviews, which exactly reflect my feelings about Aurum. Jin remains a wonderful, warm hostess. The hotel is kept in tip-top shape, really comfortable and nearly luxurious. The proximity to the great (and noisy) Chao Praya River is captivating every day, especially if you have a river view, but it's right there at breakfast too. Don't miss the Amulet Market, a drink on the deck of Arun Residence or their new place nearby. Get a massage at the massage school just a couple of blocks away (Jin can tell you) and be glad you are in a quieter neighborhood, a boat ride away from all the wonderful craziness.

Room Tip: No question: get a river view room if you can. 2nd or third floor, full view is best.

I could not believe how close we were to the Reclining Buda, Palace, Wat Arun, and right next to the river. The owner who went to the university in San Diego showed us the real meaning of the word "hospitality" She gave us advice on where to eat. Close and very very cheap. Also, she set up a river boat tour for two hours that was fantastic and hailed cabs for us to go to dinner. The rooms were very clean, newly furnished, quiet and off the main traffic pattern. She also gave us cards for the taxis with a map on getting back to the hotel.
If you want a great location for a little time in Bangkok, this is the place to stay!!! She also received another award from TA while we were there and was really excited although not being totally familiar with TA.

Room Tip: Room 301 was great river view, but not real easy to get. We were lucky by booking early.

Our short overnight stay in Bangkok was perfect! We were quite pleased with the Aurum because of the location, friendliness, and atmosphere! This is a family owned hotel and Jin was a great help with directions, advice and a friendly smile!
We booked our room with the knowledge that we would have a river view. it's nice you have a choice and will know before you arrive.
Our first day we explored the area and visited Wat Pho. We started our second day with a relaxing breakfast on the patio of the restaurant/coffee shop next door-also owned by the family! Then we walked to the Grand Palace and returned to the hotel for a quick shower before we checked out!
This was an awesome way to experience the sights and sounds of Bangkok!

Room Tip: River side was great. You can choose when register, if one is available.

On the riverside, in a tiny street the Aurim hotel serves breakfast and lunch on the terrace facing the river (it unfortunately closes at 8pm). A great thanks to Mee and Jin for all their help concerning tips to visit and how to deal with tuk-tuk and cabs. I'll never forget their kindness!
You might find it a bit noisy (except at night) but you're at walking distance from Wat pho (3mns) and Grand Palace ( 10mns).
You can also use the ferry (much better because of the traffic)pier 7 very close by.
The rooms are small and would need an extra closet but the place is really worth it!
Deck restaurant on the riverside (with great view on Wat Arun) is a 2mns walk! (should book in advance)

Room Tip: higher floors with river or partial river view.

We were in Bangkok for only two days and wanted to make the most of it, without dealing with traffic and hopefully beating at least some of the tourist crowds. This hotel was a perfect choice. Wat Pho (Temple of Reclining Buddha) is literally across the road, the Royal Palace is a 5-10 minute walk. Same for the ferry to Wat Arun. You can also have a long boat pick you up right in front of the hotel to go on a tour of the canals.

The hotel staff can help with any arrangements. They were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Jin. From booking the room to taxi to the airport, everything was prompt, courteous and reasonably priced. They treat you like a family and thought of every little detail: for example, they provide you with a map of places to eat nearby and a "card" to show to a taxi driver - to make sure you have no problem finding your way back:)

We stayed in Room 401 - great river view from front and side windows. Only drawback is that there is no balcony (like on the third floor), but the view is the best. There is also a roof patio with the view of the Wat Arun across the river and the Royal Palace on the other side. They are wonderfully lit at night, so do not miss it!

This hotel is a gem - we got a room with a view (not all rooms have river views)- with a balcony and french doors. The decor is classic contemporary. The manager/owner is the warmest, friendliest host we have met. She welcomes you warmly, as if to her own home. Also the best concierge service I have seen - she suggest places to eat, see, made private car sight seeing arrangements, find a tailor, massage whatever you need. A calm place in a hectic city - we love the view of the temple across the river and watching the river traffic. We recommend this boutique hotel highly - there are only 12 rooms - ask for one with a river view - it costs a bit more but worth it.

It's a pleasure to stay here. If you want a boutique hotel in Bangkok (no bars, no restaurant, no pool, no fitness centre), this one offers the perfect combination of small size with personal service, a degree of peace and tranquility hard to find in Bangkok and an unparallelled location about 5 minutes from Wat Po and 10 from the Grand Palace.
Breakfast is served to your order placed the night before at any time you arrive in the small riverfront garden area (shared with a cafe which opens later).
The side river view room meets that description but gives a feeling of light and airiness. Not, in my opinion, at all noisy from river traffic and with no passing motor traffic, it also seems well insulated from othere guestrooms. Beds are very comfortable. There is a fully stocked min-bar if you don't want to walk to the 7/11 on the main street about 3 minutes away. The bathroom with shower works in all the right ways.
The reception from the owner/manager and her staff was perfect. She has all the right advice and anticipates needs such as offering a sandwich to take in place of breakfast for an early morning departure to the airport. Or a map of the local area with restaurants and coffee shops marked. There are mostly local restaurants nearby but about 5 minutes away is Deck at the Atrium Residence which is excellent, though expensive.
Travel to other parts of Bangkok can be time-consuming. The hotel is not near any of the mass transit lines, though cabs are plentiful and cheap. But Bangkok traffic is a horror story - leave plenty of time for all journeys.
This hotel is outstanding if a well-positioned boutique hotel is your thing.
