Despites bad comments from many peoples About this hotel, we still love it because location, location which few steps away from the hotel to the BTS Phaya Thai Skytrain. The room was quite spacious compare to other budget hotels/inn and clean as they changed the bed sheet, pillow covers, towels everyday. The bed was hard after staying for 4 nights and need to change the curtain to block the neon lighting of the hotel$

Location right next to the BTS (Phaya Thai) and Airport Link Line train stations
For a one night stay it was just about bearable. Bed had clean sheets and was quite comfortable. Totally dated and not pleasing to the eye in anyway. Rooms dim and electrical wiring was bit scary.
Bathroom very old ours just about all worked for the few hours we stayed. No Wifi in room.
Booked thro Agoda so I suppose you get what you pay for. Don't expect any Frills here.

In short everything is wrong with this hotel. There is absolutely no style assigned with it: the rooms are big, empty and with very cheap lightning. You can be sure to get a depression and possible a bad sickness if you choose to stay in your room for more than just sleeping there.

The beds are clean, not perfect, a few hairs here and there, but that is not different from most places in Thailand. In my room, there was fungus growing in the ceiling and a smell to approve that, that would not go in most countries.

The staff in the lobby are not interested in helping you, even if you ask them politely. To plan my bus-trip the next day I had to pay to use their computer, so I could research things myself, because they were too sloppy to help out! They did speak English okay, but nothing compared to other hotels in the same price-range in Bangkok, but at least they did a little.

I choose to vote 1 star because this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, and I have voted 2 stars before, and I think there is quite a leap between that and this.

Location is OK if you want to be near the 'Sky-train station but I feel customers are being fleeced just because of that.
There is nothing else worth saying.
Internet is charged from 50 baht an hour in the lobby only (no free wi fi here!!!)

Interior a grubby brown and same inside the rooms. Bathroom is simply so old and run-down.
Be aware though that if you intend to use the Skytrain then large luggage will be a problem to carry on and at peak periods the local workers need the stadning space. And then there is security so bags will have to be checked.

Room tip: I guess you will have to book the most expensive room in order to get normal comforts.

Stepping into the Florida Hotel feels like going back to the 1970s ! Even the receptionist is still using a traditional type-writer - must be the only one still in use in Bangkok !

I believe the Florida Hotel was around when American troops stayed there on R&R breaks during the Vietnam War - and as far as the standard rooms are concerned, little seems to have changed since then. The clientele at the Florida seems to be mainly Thai business people (ie sales rep types).

Despite this, however, at 1100 Baht per night for a Standard Room (including a reasonable American breakfast of eggs / ham etc), I think this hotel is quite good value. There is also a swimming pool and the staff at reception are very friendly and helpful. The standard room furnishings, however, are very basic and quite dated (ie "old."). The so called "hot shower" distributed only lukewarm water when I was there, but this I found adequate after suffering the heat and humidity of Bangkok. If you want a "hot" shower though, this may not be sufficient. I found the bed comfortable and sheets clean. Rooms are cleaned daily.

As has already mentioned extensively here, the location of the hotel is by far its main asset, being situated literally right next door to the Phaya Thai BTS and Airport Link stations. It is also convenient for the Morcit2 Northern Bus Terminal, which should cost about 100 Baht fare using a BTS / Meter Taxi combo. Also, from the Florida you can walk to the Siam Centre in 20 minutes (or a couple of stops on the BTS) and the Panthip Plaza IT mall is about a 15 minute walk from here.

The rooms are OK for a couple of nights stop-over, but I would not recommend a longer term stay at the Florida. For the price and location, however, I believe the Florida Hotel represents a good value place to stay in this area of Bangkok.

Keith

Room tip: Rooms at the rear (away from the street) maybe quiter.
