Had been to this hotel for a night. It was a short trip for some work in Bangkok. I had plenty of free time so I asked my friend to book my hotel in shopping area. The location of hotel is great. Walking distance from a major shopping attractions like Indra square, Pantip plaza etc. The surrouning very calm & quite. Hotel is new & neat & clean. Staff is good. Breakfast is OK. Bathroom is spacious. I would like to stay there in future too.

We stayed at the Grand Watergate Hotel in Bangkok on one of our most recent holidays in South East Asia. For us, no trip to this region is complete without a stopover in Bangkok as we are simply in love with the city!

We (my wife Dina, son Yash and myself) besides being shopoholics, are marathoners too and had decided to stay in the Pratunam area from where we could move around on foot.

Before our departure, we had zeroed in on this hotel after going through some good reviews on tripadvisor.com and I must add that it really helped.

Driving into Pratunam from Suvarnabhumi International at night, we passed by Indra market, Panthip Plaza and Platinum mall and we knew this was the area we wanted to be in and our choice of hotel was just right!

To our delight, we found that though the hotel is within striking distance of Indra market, Pantip Plaza and Platinum mall, it is well nestled in a nice by lane off Petchaburi Road. Check in was very pleasant, staff very well behaved and polite and the room was a pretty sight too! The room had a TV, fridge and lots of cupboard space too which was very useful in stowing away our shopping delights! The beds were brand new with firm mattresses and a brand new 2 ton Mitsubishi Split Airconditioner kept us away from the Bangkok heat NOISELESSLY!

Also to our delight, the white bathroom was sparkling clean with good COTO sanitaryware and fittings. A PANASONIC massagic shower panel in the shower area was a pleasure to use for our tired bodies!

The room was spacious enough to accomodate a rollaway bed for our son. The best part was that there was no carpeting, so no mites, no hidden bed bugs and no mosquitoes! The room and infact the hotel has tiled flooring and it looks and smells clean too!

Breakfast area in the hotel is reasonably sized, well kept and clean with 2 LCD TVs keeping you in touch with the world with CNN. A slight dissappointment for which I will not take the overall credit away is the fact that there was nothing vegetarian (except fruits) in the breakfast buffet spread which was an all non-veg American breakfast.

The hotel is almost brand new, has noiseless elevators, a well kept reception area and I think you can't ask for more from a budget hotel. It is within striking distance from Panthip Plaza, Platinum Mall and walking distance for people who love to explore cities on foot from MBK center, Siam, Central World, Gaysorn Plaza and Pratunam Center.

Also in the vicinity are several foot massage parlours which are very reasonably priced!

We coudn't really believe that we stayed at this lovely cozy hotel for three nights at just THB 5100.00 !!

Before I conclude, I would really suggest that those who haven't visited Thailand should ''please'' do so and those who have (like us), should keeping doing so! Inspite of its political problems, its a great country with very nice and polite people and the Government is making utmost sincere efforts in not only reviving tourism, but also in ensuring that all tourists return with pleasant memories!

  • Liked — overall hospitality, clean rooms, clean laundry, smiling faces!!
  • Disliked — the breakfast...
