Pullman Bangkok King Power
Ranked #65 of 887 Hotels in Bangkok
Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

I stayed at this hotel only last week and had the awful experience of finding large cockroaches in the room. The first night I found a large one in the bathroom and someone came to remove it and assured me that they had found the source (under the bath) and they had dealt with the problem. Based on this information we stayed in the room and were given free breakfast for ourselves and another couple that we were on holiday with.

The next night (our last night) we came across another large one in the bathroom and called reception again to come and deal with the problem. This time they didn't arrive quickly and during the 20 minutes that I waited another one was spotted! As you can imagine we were pretty hysterical at this point. We were packing for our flight home the next day so were panicing that they had gotten into our luggage too. We were moved into another room at 1.30am and had a restless night as we were slightly paranoid.

The hotel was nice but the cockroaches and the lack of decent pest control within the hotel. I would not come back. What made things worse is that we were on the fourth floor (417) so I'm guessing that the pests have had to come from the ground and they have a restaurant on the ground floor. I am advising you all to stay away. This isn't a nice problem to deal with on holiday and it did make our stay that less enjoyable. If it was possible to put a 0/5 then I would but TripAdvisor requires a minimum rating of 1.

Dear shellkixass,

Pease accept my most sincere apologies for that very annoying incident that have clearly ruined your stay in our property.

Of course, we have taken that issue very seriously and a series of immediate actions have been decided: we have closed the concerned area; our pest control company has already conducted a detail audit and treatment of our building as their weekly routine has clearly been deficient.

If you read the other guest comments posted on Tripadvisor or some other website you will notice that we are very serious on our pest control and our hotel never had that kind of issue.

I personally feel so terribly sorry for that bad experience that I would like to check with you how we can redeem ourselves, please contact me directly on rm@pullmanbangkokkingpower.com.

Once more I would like to offer my heartfelt apologies regarding that incident.
With my very best regards,

Bertrand Dugast
Operations Director.

Excellent hotel, Excellent food- all buffet, excellent rooms, excellent customer service, wifi free, massages at budget cost, free transport to train station, duty free shopping.
We went 2 hrs prior to check-in time. But we were very well treated and a genuine attempt was made to have our rooms ready without having to wait till the official check-in time. Luggage was looked after at the reception while we were given the spa and gym facility to have a bath and change, Excellent facility here. You won't regret.

Room Tip: all rooms are good- no need of any special attempt.

It's a modern hotel located besides king power duty free. Very good facilities and excellent food. Room is spacious, clean, comfortable bed, large bath tub and a shower. Restaurant offers a wide array of choices; local and international cuisine. They have a beautiful infinity pool to help you relax at night.

I highly recommend this hotel.

We decided to book a long weekend getaway a few months back and unfortunately the coup in Thailand happened in the meantime. As we were returning to somewhere we'd been before and only intended to stay in the hotel by the pool, we decided to go ahead anyway and were glad we did. Unlike last time, we chose book directly and to stay in an Executive Room at the Pullman King Power and I am so glad we did - we were upgraded to an Executive Suite and it was lovely. We were checked in from the Executive Lounge and it was the start of a wonderful and relaxed weekend.

The executive rooms are obviously nicer and larger than the normal room and give you access to the Executive Lounge, where you also have the option of having breakfast (or you can eat with everyone else downstairs, but I don't know why you would) and joining for drinks from 5-7pm each evening. We ate a late breakfast there each day and it was absolutely superb - a short wander down the hall, very few people, excellent service from the team there, especially Gift. We had complimentary drinks and nibbles there during two of the evenings before going out to dinner also.

One of the things that drew us back to the King Power was the memory that there were a number of choices of restaurants to eat if you didn't want to venture too far afield, which we didn't. Unfortunately we didn't check what was happening at the Wine Pub on Saturday night and when we turned up found they had a set menu that we didn't want, so we ended up eating in the resident Thai restaurant in the lobby. It was fine, but a little disappointing as the food was just ok and no ambience at all. We did eat at the Wine Pub the next night and it was just lovely and much, much quieter than the night before.

We spent a bit of time by the pool, although we were chased off the second day by the rain. We both had a hot stone massage at the spa which was blissful and although I've used the fitness centre before, I didn't have the interest this time. We visited the King Power Duty Free mall next door again, but there was not much there that I was very interested in - it's strangely laid out and has some unusual items that don't really interest me. It's not why I stay there and I find their shops at the airport much more of interest. We were given access to the King Power Lounge at the airport because of the Executive room, but didn't find this especially worthwhile either.

The room came with a Nespresso coffee machine, but I felt a little cheated that they only gave us two coffee capsules each day with it - that felt a little cheap after going to all the effort of giving us the machine, especially as the capsules are pretty low cost in comparison. The room itself was well appointed and very spacious, with a lovely bathroom. The bathroom amenities were very nice and everything supplied to the point where you could come away with just a few clothes and manage very well.

All in all it was lovely to come back and we were welcomed very nicely. I think the extra money spent on an Executive room was well worth it and would definitely return to the hotel and choose that option again. If you're looking for a quick weekend getaway to relax in some nice weather with access to Bangkok, this is a great option.

Room Tip: Choose an Executive Room - its worth the extra!
