“Excellent White Asparagus”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

During white asparagus season, Bei Otto is number 1 probably in all Asia. The imported white asparagus is of excellent quality. For those who grew up with asparagus like me, we know how much can go wrong and how a meal is quickly destroyed. Not at "Bei Otto". Chef Alexander knows where to source and how to prepare. Bei Otto is a casual dining experience with authentic German food that makes the place popular over so many years in Bangkok. The delicatessen shop caters well too. Always nice to come to this good German restaurant in between my nice Thai meals...

“Delicious Pork Knuckles”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

After returning from our Golden Triangle trip in Thailand a few years ago,, we booked Windsor Suite in Bangkok & from hotel room, we noticed there was a German Restaurant, Bei Otto, From afar, the restaurant looked impressive. We were greeted warmly when we entered. Setting looked very German & what other food beside pork knuckles in a German Restaurant. It was not a disappointed when we ate the Pork Knuckles. In fact it tasted better than the one we had in Black Forest, Germany.
Good food . Check it out

“BLACK FOREST MEETS THE LAND OF SMILES”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

My Wife is Thai , so when in Thailand on Holiday , we do not eat Thai Food every night. I do not know of many German Restaurants in London , let alone good German Restaurants. This is an excellent Restaurant that we have visited several times when in Bangkok. Lovely ambiance ( Very Rustic German ) and super service. Food is excellent , and for those who appreciate German Cuisine. Great Goulash Soup with Fresh Bread. Sausages are superb. Tried the mixed Sausage Platter as well as the Nurnburger Bratwurst. My Wife even gave the Bavarian Pork Knuckle a shot.We took my Wife's Thai relations there and they really enjoyed their German Meat Fest. Beer is also very good. If you want a bit of Germany in Thailand , then you will not be disappointed. Not really suitable for Vegetarians !

“Misleading pricing schemes and sub-standard products”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

This review is for the bakery / store / cafe. So. A 10-baht bottle of water suddenly costs 50 baht (plus tax and gratuity) when consumed inside, at a table. Seriously!? A tiny pot of average tea is 160 baht. Even Starbucks charges less. I realize that in the evening it's hard to expect freshness from bread, but there are no discounts or special offers, and again, anything consumed on premises will be priced differently. Meanwhile, you won't find any notices posted and salespeople will not advise you that sitting down for a quick snack will cost you trifold. So after being misled into paying extra for pretty average products I will never set my foot into this establishment ever again.
