Lamphu treehouse is an excellent mid-range hotel. The location is excellent- an easy walk to many attractions & tourist spots, but also tucked away on a canal meaning it's very quiet.

The rooms are nothing to write home about- very standard. Our bathroom was pretty low grade, but clean & functioned fine.

The hotel itself is quite beautiful, it has a pool & a large quiet area where you can sit.

Breakfast was the only let down- a good variety but the hot food was cold most days (even though we arrived right at the start).

The staff are so lovely & helpful which often makes or breaks a hotel.

Really nice setting, quiet but in walking distance to Kao San & Main attractions, 7/11 nearby, very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, nice pool, but restaurant not really outstanding

Overall highly recommend if you have the very few extra baht compared to the cheap ones available!

Warning (nothing to do with the Lamphu Tree House): do not book with the travel agency "Best Guideline Travel" opposite the nearby 7/11 on Prasumen Road as I have been sold to scammers on our trip to Siem Reap / Angkor.

Stayed at the Lamphu Tree House late October to November, what a delightful establishment in a great area of Bangkok all staff extremely helpful and welcoming and of course the prices represent great value. The rooms themselves were very clean and atmospheric and the included breakfast was hard to fault. As other reviewers have said the pool was beautiful and very inviting after a day walking around the surrounding area, and make sure you take the time to explore around the hotel, top little bar with live entertainment on the corner, and do have a massage justI must give a special mentio 50 metres around the corner good people and great prices, also near the massage parlor is a mens barber shop 70 baht for a very good hair cut and run by ripper people.I must give a special mention to the hard working and very kind manager Prayad Thamwongsa a good bloke!!!!

Stayed here while visiting the manic city of Bangkok. Hotel is tucked away from the main tourist attractions, most are a short tuk-tuk ride away & within walking distance of Big Budda & Khao San road. Rooms are basic, but perfect for a city hotel. Room 514 was cleaned daily with a safe & air conditioning. Staff made the hotel for me, were always polite, friendly & helpful. Breakfast is a buffet style with a wide variety of foods, I'd recommended the banana pancakes. Dinner is tradional Thai food, serving dishes such as Pad Thai & Chicken stayas. If I was being picky, the shower is more like a garden hose. However the overall of the hotel was excellent, would recommended if looking for an escape away from the noise of Bangkok, while still in the heart of the city.

I decided I would take my 78-year mother to Thailand. She had never been any place more exotic than Western Europe, so I did a lot of research on hotels before I booked the trip. I chose Lamphu for our time in Bangkok and it was totally the right decision.

First, the location: Lamphu is on the edges of Banglampoo, the old part of the city, and just a block or so from Democracy Monument, which is a nice reference point for taxi drivers. From the hotel you can walk to the river, Santichai Prakarn park, the back-packing craziness of Khao San Road, and a number of museums. If you have the time you can walk to the Grand Palace and Chinatown (we did). You can also walk to Phan Fah boat stop where you can catch a water taxi to the central shopping district.

The hotel itself is on a canal away from any major sources of noise. The rooms are just fine. The buffet breakfast is very generous. The staff are helpful and gracious (they were very kind to my mother). Laundry service is cheap and efficient and there is even a small swimming pool.

We had a great stay and I will recommend the place to my friends who visit Bangkok.
