“All in all a great place!”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

Although its rates are that of a mid-ranger, you definitely get above average bang for your buck in this hotel. The staff speaks reasonable English and are friendly, its kitchen serves simple but delicious Thai dishes (not to mention a very good and varied breakfast buffet!) and the outside area at the pool allow for a great place to wind down if hectic Bangkok gets too much. Rooms are simple but clean. It's location is far enough from the Kao San Road area to find some rest, but close enough (about a 10 minute walk) to enjoy it. If I had to nitpick, only annoying thing was that the WiFi is not very reliable on all floors.

The hotel is somewhat off the main road and therefore difficult to find, but the advantage is that it's a peaceful place in busy Bangkok. The room is nicely decorated, but small. The view isn't that nice. The breakfast is very nice as well as the swimming pool although it's small. The staff was helpful but a bit distant. For us it was a good start of our holiday and we would recommend it!

For us this is the perfect Bangkok hotel. You are in the heart of a 'real' part of the city, far enough away to Khao San Rd if you want to avoid it, but close enough if you don't. The rooms are comfortable and clean and come with a nice view. The roof toop bar and pool (on ground level) are a nice addition. Just book early!

Room Tip: Book ahead to avoid having to go elsewhere!

We stayed here for three nights with our son and partner in early November. On arrival we were initially disappointed. The area is pretty seedy. The hotel is off a main road on the banks of a canal. Subsequently we found that this was a great advantage - it was quiet. The hotel is clean and highly polished, the rooms are spacious, and the staff are most helpful. Things get done! The bathroom door handle was broken It got fixed right away. We wanted two chairs to sit out on a small balcony - they arrived right away. The breakfasts were wonderful: a huge choice from fruit and yoghurt through all kinds of cooked stuff. We're returning to Bangkok on 8th December and have booked a suite at the Lamphu Tree - as a wee treat to end our SE Asian adventure.

This hotel is a great value with a convenient location. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. Rooms are clean with very good beds. In the morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast. The staff is pretty sympathetic although like everywhere the english is not so perfect.
There is nothing to complain about!!! :-)

Helpful, friendly staff, comfortable, clean and great breakfast (banana pancakes and streaky bacon!).

If in a cab or tuc tuck you'll be dropped on a bridge and it's a minutes walk along the canal - really does help to have the map the hotel provide at time of booking. Once there the hotel have little maps at reception which are useful.

We spent 2 nights here, just before the street protests (still occurring!) began. We loved it! Very nice people, wonderful breakfast buffet and incredible Thai restaurant as well! We arrived late after a long travel day and asked the restaurant if we could still eat dinner as it was 9:25 and they closed at 9:30. They said "no problem" and we had a delicious meal in about 10 minutes. I had emailed the hotel 2 days before to ask for a quiet, upstairs room in the main building and we were assigned room 515, top, corner room. It was perfect, so quiet and roomy with a huge bathroom. The best part of all: absolutely NO noise from the outside or anywhere else as it's next to a cleaning storage room. Overall, loved this place, great location near the center of the city and the large Buddhist Temple. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Room 515 in the main building rocks!
