“Returned 2 years later down hill”

Ok loved the place first time round , but gone down hill probably as got the tripadvisor reward , rooms looking tatty as of all of hotel , breakfast was really good but not now . not so good for the price you can get a better deal on a 3/4 star on agoda Ect,,,

The staffs English is not to good now change of staff or can not be bothered not to sure.

When we l we're leaving the day before they asked if you would like to book taxi for the trip to airport, yes please i replied , that morning we came down and they asked for the money for the taxi ????! It ok I will pay the driver no u pay me NOW !!!!!!!!! How much I say They relayed the price , 150 bht More than the trip is as we have made this trip to this area 4 times within 8 weeks ,
They told me this is there driver more expensive , when getting to the road to get my own taxi there drive came up and said airport ,,,,, I said we get are own transport,

The funny thing was there driver was a normal Bangkok taxi With a hotel shirt on ,got to laugh ,
All in all the hotel is ok but for what they are now charging for the size of rooms and quality and small small pool , Bangkok as a lot better to offer these days for the same price so have a hunt about and get more for your money

Stayed in deluxe room for 3 nights. Good service, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were comfortable. The poolside was a great place to chill with a beer and escape the chaos of the city. The included breakfast awesome, good selection and frequent coffee top ups ;) The restaurant was decent and reasonably priced. Overall good value. Do something about the bathrooms and you'd have yourself a 5 rating easy!

We spent 2 nights at the Lamphu Tree House over New Year. We printed off the map as we had heard that it is hard to find the hotel and our taxi driver found it with no problems. The rest of our group were behind us in another taxi and their driver had to stop & call the hotel! Once you get the hang of it it's easy to find your way back again later.
The hotel is nicely decorated in 'Thai-style' wood and our rooms were comfortable. The pool was a bit cold, but very refreshing after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast was good & there was enough choice for a free buffet. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times, although not on the first night as they close at 10.00! The food was fine.
One thing that would make me think twice about staying here again is the fact that it is on a canal. The canal smelled pretty bad while we were there (you could smell it by the pool) and there were tons of mosquitoes.
The location is quite good, though. We walked to Khao San Rd, Democracy Monument, Golden Mount, and caught a river taxi back from Wat Pho to pier no 13, which is 5 minutes walk away.
The free wifi worked perfectly in our rooms and we were ale to print off our boarding passes for 5 baht per sheet.

We spent a couple of nights here and it's a very nice hotel for an affordable price. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Always willing to help you book things or give advice.
Beds are comfy and the decor very nice. Good location, close-ish to Khao San Road (it's a few streets over) but far away enough. It's easy to get around in Bangkok, however the skytrain doesn't go over this area.

Beware of Tuk Tuk drivers in this area, they will take every opportunity to rip you off!
If you want to go to a floating market, don't go by tuk tuk, walk 10-15 mins to the piers where you can get an express boat for 15baht each way.

The pool is nice and cool which is refreshing when you've been travelling around Bangkok all day!
Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because we had lunch here on one of the days and it wasn't very good. The massaman curry was VERY oily, to the point I couldn't eat it. I had a few of these curries whilst in Thailand and none were that oily.

Also, it is very hard to find. On a map it looks as though it is on a street, but it's not, it's on a canal path so a taxi would have to drop you off on the main road by the bridge.
I believe they provide a map on the website but the driver still struggled - perhaps written instructions in Thai would be good?

A very nice hotel for an affordable price. Breakfast was awesome and was included. It's in a relatively quiet location, but if street noise bothers you, be sure to request a room in the back. Lovely lobby and restaurant, free wifi. But it is REALLY REALLY difficult to find. Even after calling the hotel to ask for directions our taxi driver still had trouble getting us there and had to stop and ask locals a few more times as we got closer. You have to get out of the taxi on or next to the bridge and walk down some steps to a pub (quiet). Then walk 1/2 block along the canal to the hotel entrance. Staff were really friendly and helpful, writing out instructions in Thai for taxi drivers for us.

A tip about getting around Bangkok: make sure you get a taxi driver who agrees to use the meter. Get in the taxi, tell the driver where you're going, and then remind him to use the meter. If you don't they'll charge you 3x the usual price as a flat rate. If you negotiate the fare ahead of time they'll always say either 250 or 300 baht, when the meter would cost less than 100.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room (motorbikes on those Bangkok streets are LOUD!) ask for a room in the back.

We spent a few nights at Lamphu Tree House and had a great experience.
Yes, the hotel is initially difficult to find, even with the map. Our yuk yuk driver, who had the hotel map, got to the area and then had to stop and ask a couple of people before dropping us off across the strew. The hotel is on a street/lane along the canal and is not vehicle-accessible. You get to the foot of the bridge, walk down some stairs and the hotel is a few steps to the right. Once you find it the first time, getting back to it is a breeze.

The hotel is lovely, with handsome, well appointed rooms, a nice pool/lounge area and a nice restaurant. (We only had breakfast there but it was very good.)

The service was very good and the price was reasonable.

The location was very good. We walked everywhere from the hotel (except when taking ferries across the river). There are so many great areas, restaurants, and temples right near the hotel and all the main sights (Royal Palace complex, etc.) were within walking distance.

It was a great spot to stay and i would do so again.

Stayed here twice in December 2013. Arrived on Saturday night, on my birthday, after an overnight trip from London. Despite having the map the taxi driver took about 30 minutes to find the place - this was the only negative. The welcome was friendly, as was the cold drink, and checking in was efficient. We were soon in our room, a suite on the 6th floor of the 2nd building where a jaccuzi full of cool water made us feel clean and awake again. Stayed 3 nights the first time, friendly helpful staff, great breakfast, and the pool is very clean, and refreshing after a sweaty day touring Bangkok.

Foyer bar is a relaxing place to hang around, or visit the Rolling Bar on the corner which has live music at weekends, friendly staff and great, cheap food.

Conveniently situated to walk to places, or a taxi/tuk-tuk to the palace/temples is 100 Baht or less.

Used the hotel's taxi booking service for a couple of 6am airport trips, at 500 Baht it's more expensive that finding a metered taxi but we thought it was worth it for reliability and peace of mind. Metered trip from the airport is less than 300 Baht.

Watched a 10 foot monitor lizard chasing smaller ones in the canal one morning.

Came back for one night at the end of our trip and stayed in a standard room as it was just a short overnight crash. Room was comfy and clean and welcome as good as the first stay.

Will definitely look to stay here again if/when we come back to Bangkok.
