“What a disappointment”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013 via mobile

We booked here after reading only a few reviews on here and via booking.com
From the street the hotel does look cool and boutique-y but when we got to the reception they had no idea who we were or that we had a reservation. Probably because the internet doesnt work. So we showed them our confirmation email and they showed us to a superior room. Now before i go on, we paid $49 for this room. After having travelled for 12hours on a bus we wanted a nice luxurious night sleep so we paid over double what we paid everywhere else thinking that we get what we pay for right? Wrong. When we got shown to our room all we could smell was paint fumes and the room was worse then the $10 a night room we had stayed in at a backpackers in laos. The tv was the same i had when i was 12 years old and the channels were fuzzy. The wifi did not work. The bed was uncomfortable. The room was huge but it was too big, they could have put a chair and table there to utilise the space but it was just empty. We had to put our bags on the floor because they didnt have a chair or any place to put them. The aircon and fridge were loud and hummed all night and to top it off there was strange noises at 2am that woke us both up. Almost sounded like someone was knocking on our door and then stomped up some stairs then started to re-arrange and drag furniture around in the room above us.
Breakfast finishes at 10am so there was no sleeping in after that night sleep and the breakfast was so bad i just ate a plate of pineapple and watermelon.
The pool was also disappointing, the water was slimy, but the staff was kind and gave us towels to use in stead of our bath towels.
We booked a tour through the tour desk and she was helpful. And the receptionist was apologetic about the wifi being down and let me use her phone to book a tour since i couldnt email them.
But seriously for what i expected to get for my money i left feeling sick in the stomach that i spent way too much on a room i could have got for way cheaper at another hotel.

Booked this hotel at BKK airport as a last minute thing on Agoda and what a surprise it turns out to be? The boy at the front desk was always smiling and the lady in the tour desk provided excellent service and as bonus, added complimentary massage as a gratitude for booking with them. And the included breakfast buffet (depending on your rate plan) is also a plus to get a day of exploring the walled old city off to a good start!

Eurana boutique hotel is truly an oasis in the heart of the old city. As soon as you walk in from the busy soi you can feel the cool, calm, serenity of the gardens and the lovely open air reception inviting you to relax. All of the hotel staff are excellent, and always helpful. Their in-house Tour Desk can hook you up with whatever takes your interest. Whether you fancy a work out with a personal trainer, or, a jungle tour riding on an ATV! This hotel is perfectly located for anyone whom likes to explore by foot, although tuk tuks are easy to find around there too. In fact, one of the hotel staff, Berm Rider, as a sideline to his day job runs a tuk tuk and small car for private tours by special request. He's heaps of fun, reliable and charges are more than reasonable. The rooms are well kept, comfortable and you are provided two free 1 litre bottles of water every day! They have poolside rooms that are perfect if you're keen, or have little ones that want to play in the pool. Poolside rooms are also a little bigger than the standard. But, if you're looking a quiet room I highly recommend that you tell the staff when you check in, so they can best meet your needs. We personally loved the poolside rooms, but found them a bit noisy when we wanted to sleep in late. Free breakfast is available, but sadly it’s not all that. However, there’s literally dozens of lovely spots you can walk to for either a hot western breakfast or tasty Thai meal. We found the Nice Kitchen, just opposite the car park, a perfect breakfast or lunch stop. Hon, the owner and manager, is a great cook! You’ll find Nice Kitchen serving up delicious, nutritious, Western and Thai food, at budget friendly prices. Eurana provide free wifi, which has a good strong signal in the rooms. Just ask for a password when you check in! This is a great choice if you’re visiting Chiang Mai.

This hotel was my first port of call after a long 17 hour journey from London to Chiang Mai. It is a tad difficult to find as its down a side street off the main square shaped road that surrounds the old town. Having said this proves of somewhat an advantage and made me feel extremely safe. The hotel is very picturesque with an open lobby and pond as well as seating.

For the rates they are charging you really cannot go wrong with this hotel, its clean, tidy, comfy, good location, good selection of places to eat nearby. My one gripe was the breakfast if you get this included in your package. It was not nice at all, and the bread had insects crawling all over it. I ate it once in my 3 day stay and opted to walk around to the market 2 minutes away and get fresh mango juices the other times.

There is a Tesco Lotus and 7 Eleven within 5 minutes walk of the hotel making it easy to get anything you might need or fancy, Great street food joints on the main road near the hotel if your on a budget. Good supply of local taxis and tuk-tuks nearby. Our room had a nice balcony with bench to sit on if you smoke.

Bathrooms need some TLC and not overly clean but how much time do you really spend in the bathroom? Theres also a small but well equipped pool on the first floor too with loungers if you fancy it. Overall a fantastic, and well located place to stay would definitely stay again and recommend for anyone visiting Chiang Mai.

Room Tip: Junior Suites are on a nicer location towards the front of the hotel facing the main road.

2MovingTheChi spent our first four nights in Chiang Mai at this property. We booked a Junior Suite, sight unseen, through Agoda, which was offering a good offer.

The hotel is located in the northeast quadrant of the square Old City. The location is close to the Sunday night market and many of the Wats. Actually, since the Sunday market is so big, anywhere in the Old City is not far from this event.

Our taxi driver dropped us off mid morning after arriving by train from Bangkok. Entering the property from Soi 7, you have a pleasant curved cement path passing by the Violet restaurant leading to the open air check in area. The staff greeted us with warmth, assigned our room, and allowed us an immediate check-in.

Our non-smoking Junior Suite (room 202) was clean, air conditioned and quiet. The first room of the two room suite is comprised of a wood floored, sparsely furnished sitting room with two chairs, a writing desk and chair, a TV and mini bar refrigerator. The second room is a spacious marble floored bedroom offered a king bed, TV with stand, a luggage bench, a make-up vanity with a mirror, and closets. A small safe (we could not open it) was inside the closet. The bath, located off the bedroom, is large with a tub/shower combination with dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Plenty of hot water and strong water pressure. The down side to this room is poor lighting and lack of convenient electrical outlets for computers and phones. However, the wifi internet connection was very good.

Our room rate included breakfast each morning served in the Violet Restaurant next to the front desk. Their breakfast buffet was not a high point of our visit. It included pineapple juice, coffee/tea, breads, fruits (our main selection), cut vegetables to make a salad, soup, fried eggs, chicken sausage and ham. The food was cold, not very flavorful and the staff was not very attentive and didn’t seem very happy. They had to be prompted if you needed something.

Construction is taking place in one of their buildings, but the noise was minimal during the day. At night, the property was very quiet, but I do not think they had many guests.

It was a comfortable stay.

You won't go wrong here--average quality for average price. Clean room, breakfast was the same as it is everywhere in Thailand (eggs, hot dog, and some fruit), wifi worked pretty well. The location is good. You're in the old city, and not a bad walk from the night bazaar and pub street. A safe bet if you don't know where else to go.

An Oasis in Chiang Mai, everything is very easy to reach. Whether you go for short times only 7 eleven (supermarket) or market. Not more than 5 min. removed. Laundry Bath for 30 per kilo (the equivalent of about 60 cents) around the corner. Wireless internet is available free of charge in almost all rooms. Many thanks to the management and staff Eurana.
