aruntara was a lovely place to stay. The rooms were spacious and very nicely decorated, as is the lobby and the little courtyard. Didn't feel like an "standard" anonymous hotel at all. The staff are very helpful, they set us up with a great elephant tour. The spa was great too. It's about a 10-15 minute ride to the night bazaar and town centre area by tuk-tuk for less than 100 baht, and the hotel runs a free shuttle service every evening as well. The one thing I'd flag is that the pool doesn't get any direct sunlight and is very shallow, like 1.2 metres or something so don't plan on doing much swimming here. But there's plenty of other great things to do in chiang mai and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

modern meets traditional Lanna touch. hotel and rooms are clean and looks fairly new. Modern toilet with rain shower and Jacuzzi. Like the idea of separating the shower with WC area and the other side is a wash basin with Jacuzzi. So when someone is having a shower you can still wash your face at the wash basin outside.
comfortable bed. great service. Very accommodating staffs, always willing to offer advise and assistance in booking for spa outside of hotel although they have an in house spa service. We tried 2 other spas which are pretty good at a cheaper rate than the hotel spa. See my other reviews on the spas.
location wise it is not on any busy street, 7-11 just short walk through an alley. but thb80 tuk tuk will get you to the major nearby shopping and restaurants.
breakfast is basic american with eggs cooked fresh for you and sausages, bacon, 2 local rice or noodle dish.
the hotel compound is really beautiful, especially the green and the river is just so peaceful. Small pool though.
would highly recommend for a relaxing holiday.

Very good hotel, my wife and I stay for 2 nights, just want to try some other place out of the ChiangMai old city, but we found that the problem is we planed for staying too short.Room is under good design and Deco, modern style, the staff is nice, the river view is fantasic, especially having breakfast in the sunny morning, by the way, I will recommend to try the spa in this hotel, very very value the price.

However, breakfast is simply, they should add more Thai dishes, instead of only western food.

Arun Tara is everything that I look for in a boutique hotel, it's beautiful in a nicely understated fashion. It's serene and located on the river bank and just outside of the hustle and bustle to be peaceful but it is convenient enough as a base. And the price is very reasonable for what you get. You never feel like you're surrounded by many other people which is what I wanted in a place like Chiangmai. The rooms are not huge but they feel spacious because of the good design. Everything about Aruntara is small but sufficient and efficient. The pool and the sun lounge is a good example of that. The fact that everything is kept small gives it a classy and boutique feel, unlike other places which can seem ostentatious. I highly recommend this little hotel as a rare gem in a fantastic destination.

I came to Chiangmai around 4-5 times and stayed in different places. This place is small and not located in a busy area like night bazaar. Good thing is I checked in at 8 am. and I could get into my room right away. The chauffeur of hotel van gave us many tips with how to travel and start fare for tuk tuk and red bus. Also, staffs here are very helpful and have service mind which you may not find in a big hotel. The room is very clean and cosy. The spa, price is reasonable and good care from masseuse. The breakfast is not variety but I'm ok with it. Price is acceptable with view by the Ping river. It is quiet and good to relax. I will come back again.

Nice, but When compared, I like to stay at Sheik Istana Hotel and enjoy its 1-hour oil massage at Sheik Istana Hotel than that of the 2-hour spa at Aruntara and hotel itself. It's modern but a bit noisy when I stayed at 218 facing courtyard.
Limited choice in the breakfast.
I enjoyed swimming at the small-sized pool, especially for no one swimming over there.

Room Tip: try the white elephant suite, it faces to the river and be far away from the main road.

Couldn't be happier with our stay at the Aruntara. It is a little piece of heaven in the busy (but lovely!) city of Chiang Mai.

The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The breakfast was delicious. And the location is perfect. We only spent a few hours lounging at the hotel because we had so many activities packed for our time in Chiang Mai, but it was so peaceful hanging out by the beautiful pool.

The room was lovely with a beautiful jacuzzi, the hotel leaves a nice plate of fruit upon arrival, and our room overlooked the courtyard which was great!

Overall very happy with our stay at the Aruntara, highly recommend it!
