We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights during the Loy Krathong Festival and I don't think we could have picked a better place. The entire hotel was transformed for a special dinner for all the hotel guests, traditional thai food and dancing and lanterns for all the guests. If you are able to stay here in November I recommend you do. The hotel itself is lovely, rooms are clean and beds are comfy. Good room layout. This hotel isn't in the centre of town however 5 minutes in a tuk tuk and they are always available. Breakfast was simple but nice. The service at this hotel was outstanding, all the staff were so welcoming and always willing to help. Cant wait to return!

This is a really cute boutique hotel, its really beautiful and all the staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean and I really liked the bathroom layout. This hotel is a little out of town but only a couple of minutes in a tuk tuk so don't let that put you off. We were there for the Loy Krathong festival and a dinner was organised for all the hotel guests (compulsory dinner) the effort that was put in was amazing and the hotel looked beautiful, they had lanterns and floating floral baskets to float down the river for all guests, if you are going to chiang mai in November I highly recommend you organise it so you can stay at Aruntara and go to this dinner.

Breakfast had a good selection but perhaps could have more. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will be back!

We stayed in this hotel whilst we were in Chiang Mai for 9 days. Service of this hotel was fantastic. Staff were very helpful with questions, bookings and any other matters. The hotel itself is really nice and you felt there was forward planning to it eg umbrellas offerred and shades to prevent rain on stairs. The room was comfortable and they were always cleaned promptly. Its location is a bit further out but still close to all locations such as the night markets, airport, airport plaza, nimmanhaemin rd. The breakfast had enough variety and switched from day to day with a nice selection on offer. Highly recommended place to stay.

The service at this hotel is really horrible. Our room smelled like sewage and when we kindly asked to change rooms, there was no apology but just a foul attitude.

Upon asking about hikes, the woman at the front desk insisted we book right away and didn't allow us any time to consider. She was severely annoyed when we decided not to book a car through her. An awful attitude that out us all I'm a bad mood.

Very nice boutique hotel with great style, friendly and helpful staff, nicely-decorated clean rooms. Breakfast was good, maybe only choice of sweet type of things could be improved. We were there for Loy Karthong festival and they organized (admittedly at a premium price) a dinner with all the hotel guests which was really enjoyable. Location is not the best since it takes about 30-40 minutes walk to get to the very centre of Chiang Mai.

Everything about this boutique hotel is charming, from its facade to the lobby to the doors to even the flooring of the rooms...it was just perfect for our goal: relaxation. Our room had just the right amount of space (including the cabinets for our clothes and luggage), the bed and sheets were comfortable, the furnishings were lovely, the bathroom was sensible (but the bathtub was luxurious). The beautiful windows provided natural lighting and ventilation (and a lovely view of the river and hotel courtyard), but drawing the curtains allowed us to block out the light as well as keep our privacy when we wanted to. The restaurant area was lovely: surrounded by greenery with big windows to let the sunlight in and give you a view of the river outside. Though it's a bit far from downtown transportation is easy enough to come by (red cabs appear to cost less than the tuktuks) and the location provides peace and quiet after the busy-ness of going to the different tourist areas.

Service was good across the board: from coordination of our reservation via email, to our reception upon arrival, to the massages that were part of the package/promo we got. All were friendly and helpful.

Would love to go back here again and stay even longer (if only we could!). :)

*We actually stayed in this hotel October 2012, but I'm such a procrastinator that it's taken me this long to write the review it deserves...and in the dropdown choices for "When did you travel?" December 2012 was the nearest date.

The friendly staff are the perfect introduction to this hotel. They are soft-spoken and polite, but they are incredibly efficient and discreet. The work in the peaceful, aroma-therapy-focused front of the hotel with lovely spa-type items for sale. The feeling you get is very zen-like.

The rooms in the hotel are more than spacious. I didn't love that the bathroom is split between the toilet/shower and the sink/bathtub (with the entry hallway separating them), but it's certainly functional. The bed is on a low wooden platform, so be careful that you don't bump into it like I did. There was plenty of room in the closet and in the bathroom for personal belongings. The rooms are centered around an internal courtyard, which is pretty, but make sure you draw the blinds for privacy.

Breakfast is generous and varied. There's a nice view of the river from the terrace and the tea room, although the river itself at this time of year isn't particularly pretty. Be aware, though, that the hotel is not in the center of town. They do offer a free shuttle to the night market, but it's too far to walk back - you'll need to hail a tuk-tuk. Overall, I would recommend the hotel.
