Four nights in Aruntara proved to be a lovely stay in Chiang Mai. The hotel setting is on a main road but that does not transfer to the rooms at all. We stayed in an Elephant Suite and it was huge. Big Bathroom, huge bath and even a lounge area. Room and Mini bar serviced daily.

The room was clean, smart, contemporary with a view over the Garden and the river. We had a nice balcony and a troop of Geckos kept us entertained in the evenings. The staff in this hotel were fantastic, one even remembering my name and room number without any hesitation. Always smiling and willing to assist. The small dining area is a great watering hole for dinner or lunch but its worth noting its not a normal hotel restaurant. The menu choice is just enough and if you fancy something more substantial you can get out to the city and surrounds. The breakfast is great and sets you up for a day out and about. If you decide to stay at the hotel there are two therapy rooms for massage, etc.

Out in the Garden there is a small pool (very cold) as its at the side of the building and covered but on a hot day this is what you need. Nice area to sit out but my biggest issue was not enough beds to sit out. There are only around 10-12 and can quickly get snapped up if the suns out and its suitable for bathing. This could be a point to improve. Overall a great location to stay and if you are looking for boutique this is the answer. We will return!

Room Tip: If you can go for an Elephant Suite

We loved staying here on New Years. The hotel was not far from the airport. I thought the beds were a bit hard and the staff immediately brought me a pillow top mattress! The hotel is beautiful. We had a standard room which ended up being very large. The wifi worked well. The best part was that they gave us free tickets to their New Year's Eve gala. They decorated the outside of the hotel beautifully and the lights reflected on the river behind the hotel. The night was complete with great food, raffle prizes, hats, noise makers, Thai dancers and performers and some fireworks. Our favorite part was when we got to light large lanterns and release them into the sky. There was only about 20 small tables filled and this intimate setting was memorable.

Everyone was so friendly at this small, boutique hotel. We really enjoyed the hotel design and our suite. The grounds were beautiful, the spa was fantastic and the breakfast was fresh and perfect. It was very quiet in the back on the river - didn't even feel like you were in a city!

The most AMAZING thing happened when we left though. We left our child's iPad charging at the front desk while we went out for the day after checking out (our flight didn't leave until 5pm). We ended up forgetting it when we came back. We never even realized it until while sitting at our gate at the airport about to board, the agent calls our name over the load speaker. We go up to the desk and they have our iPad. The hotel realized we forgot it and somehow figured out our flight and it made it through the airport and to our gate. Never before have I experienced such amazing service! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Unbelievable!

Visited Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2009 and stay at this hotel. Booked regular suite online but moved to the White Elephant Suite on arrival, boy what a great decision. Loved the suite, great place, great people. Have saved it in my Trip Advisor to stay at again whenever I visit Thailand again.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but the Elephant and the white elephant suits are exquisite.

Wonderful Hotel with very cool design. When you walk in, it seems like you entered an oasis of tranquility. The girls at the spa are amazing! The location is only 15 minutes walk away from the center of the town, located directly at the river. Breakfast is ok, could be better. I don't recommend the restaurant - the food was not at the level of any other restaurant we ate during our Thailand trip.

Room Tip: The white elephant suite, overlooking the river.

My husband and I are 26 and we stayed at Aruntara for two nights at the end of May 2013. It is a lovely and interesting hotel. We stayed in a regular suite. It was spacious and clean.

The pool is very small and is meant more for cooling off than for swimming. For some reason the beach chairs are positioned in a way that they don’t really catch much sunlight, but they do look out at the river which was nice and relaxing.

The breakfast was fine but not as good as some of the other hotels that we stayed in.
