“An Oasis in Chiang Mai”
Reviewed 30 December 2009

Beautiful courtyard, gardens and the rooms were a wonderful place to relax. The staff was very helpful, assisiting whenever you needed. It was a quiet oasis away from the loud noises.

We stayed at Aruntara for 4 nights in the middle of December when the weather was perfect. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are extraordinarily friendly and helpful. One day, there was a mix-up with a tour bus that was supposed to pick us up, and instead, the hotel staff drove us to the tour location *one-hour* away, for free! Also, if you attempt to speak Thai with them, they are enthusiastic and patient in trying to help you learn.

The location is sub-optimal, but we didn't find it to be a problem, really. For about 40 baht ($1.20), we were able to get tuk-tuks or songtaews to take us to and from the night bazarre, which is where we wanted to be anyway. Night bazarre was about 15 min walk. Lots of thai massage and laundry places within a couple minutes walk.

We generally would like to try different places if we go back to Chiang Mai, but I suspect we'll do Aruntara again, anyway.

Very nice and serene place but not too far from the tourist spots in town. There is enough parking space if you drive. All the staffs are very polite, helpful and keen in giving driving direction. The only thing that needs to be fixed it the water system. It keeps switching from warm to cold water while you are having a shower!

Another thing that you may find is the hotel is actually smaller than what you see in the photo, but the room is spacious enough. Overall, it worths visiting if you are looking for a nice and chic hotel in a quiet environment.
