I doubt whether there is a better hotel in wonderful Chiang Mai than this fine property. It is superlative in every respect. It is beautiful in its design everywhere. Our room was first rate in every way, with a patio poolside. Best of all is its location in the center of the Old City, especially on Sunday nights when the street it is on becomes one of the world's largest street markets. We could not believe the quality of the incredibly diverse goods being sold in stalls, mostly by local artisans. And the food offerings were also marvelous. This walking street market is far superior than the daily night bazaar market in a different part of the city, which mostly offers repetitive junk stuff at low prices, though this too is must for tourists. Also, the breakfast at the hotel though not a buffet like so many Thai hotels offers a fine menu of choices, with some things on a small buffet table. Plus you look out on the main street in front of the hotel. All the hotel staff were the usual friendly and helpful Thai standard. This property sets a high standard for smaller boutique hotels.

Room Tip: Because there is no elevator, you might want to ask for a room on the first floor if you want or nee...

I've stayed at U-Chiang Mai on three different occasions and it is my hotel of choice when visiting Chiang Mai. The location is perfect for exploring the old city. The staff here are to be commended for the outstanding service and attentiveness to individual needs of their guests. Beds are some of the most comfortable in SE Asia. Bathrooms are a little dark but not a huge issue. Can't say anything but positive about our stays here. The service beats that of many Five Star resorts. The price during high season, though, can be a bit expensive. I expected it to be somewhat higher, but it was definitely a notable significant increase from other stays....hope it stays reasonable!

This hotel is located in the centre of Chang Mai , excellent base for exploring .
The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful .
Nice touches : you are given a choice of fragrant soap for your room. If you book out before breakfast is served you are given a breakfast box , there are a couple of choices . I have never received this service before.
The room was spacious and the shower room was large.
Overall a very nice place to stay.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and we loved about the location
service except the lady from restaurant was great or in thailand standard
the receptionists were quite friendly and helpful

the food offered at the morning were great except the egg benedict

the rooms were a bit small

other than that, the hotel met the ratings and also the price
nothing more nothing less

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is located inside the old city within walking distance to many cafes and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent with good selection of western and asian choices. It also has a small buffet with a good variety of items.
The staff was helpful but not as warm as some other hotels we've stayed at. The room has 2 twin beds which the staff helped us separate. Unfortunately they are narrow even for my small size. The balcony needs extra seating and table. It is only comfortable for one person.
Over all this is a good hotel for the location and value.

Room Tip: Walk carefully on the steps near the pool. It is very slippery when wet. I nearly fell.

Ideally centrally located in old town. Great location to explore the city on foot. Very modern but very well designed. Laid out with three swimming pools. Although no gardens , plenty of plants to look at whilst relaxing. Comfortable clean spacious rooms each with balcony. Nice reading room/library to sit in after busy day out. Large reception area where can sit and eat and drink. Small restaurant , breakfast extremely generous. Open upstairs bar area. Fresh fruit on rooms daily.
The staff incredibly helpful . Well impressed that they remembered our room and dietary requirements. All staff very pleasant. We had a room on the ground floor where we heard absolutely no road or other noise. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms maybe better to reduce road noise.

My Wife an I stayed her on our tour of Thailand in April 2013. The hotel is really fantastic and is located off a main road in the middle of the walled city. Entering through a courtyard off the main road it is like walking in to an oasis in the middle of the town!!

there is a fabulous black pool which is surrounded by the 3 storey rooms which all overlook the pool. Certain rooms provide views of the nearby temples (Chiang Mai apparently has more temples than anywhere else in the country and it shows - every different, colour, style and age).

Room was nice nice and had great touches like an ipod preloaded with songs for relaxing on the veranda. didn't manage a drinkin the Bar as it closes pretty early. Next time perhaps!
