“Amazingly quiet in the midst of the old city life”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

We were on our honeymoon and were upgraded to room 104 which was very nice of them to do.

Pros: nice pool access from patio, different fruits delivered to room daily, cool room decor, lovely staff and service, breakfast restaurant is okay but has good variety for the small size of the room, for a small hotel in the middle of old town which is a busy city, you are shielded from the traffic noise as soon as you enter the corridor/pool area.

Cons: hotel does not have elevators, our room is located right next to the stairs so we can hear people walking up and down the stairs at all times. if you do not want to walk up and down each time to get to your room, do not stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

We had a wonderful stay at U Chiang Mai where we chose to stay based on trip adviser reviews. We were not disappointed with a lovely clean modern room with great air conditioning. The bed was really comfortable with the softest sheets I have ever slept on. The pool was welcoming and even though hotel appeared full never had trouble getting a lounge. Most days we were given free glass of fruit salad and water with lemon slice which was a nice touch. There are 2 Large plush towels supplied with each lounge as well as an extra in your room. Wi Fi worked well in all areas. The all day breakfast made to order was delicious but the buffet bread, fruit, juices and cereal finishes at 11 so make sure you get there before then if this food is your choice, although I am sure they would give it to you if you asked. The staff at reception were very helpful with our numerous enquiries on local information that went beyond their duty of care. Tuk Tuk is 100 baht to market. We had a great stay in a wonderful relaxing atmosphere thanks to U Chiang Mai.

Please stay at U Chiang Mai. It is an oasis in the middle of town. Literally, you have to walk over a calming pool to get in the door! This is only the beginning. From beautifully decorated rooms after which I would like to decorate my own home to a pristine black swimming pool to an equipped gym overlooking the bustling street, the facilities were amazing. Second to none was the staff- they went out of their way to accommodate us and kept us informed the recent political unrest. Also, breakfast is anytime, anywhere!!!

Take my advice and go!!

Room Tip: Bugs had been mentioned by other reviewers, we saw none on our second floor room. Some rooms have t...

We stayed here for 2 nights and I found the place tranquil. Our room was on ground floor which to be honest, it's not my preferred level. I specifically asked the staff to spray our room with insecticide and they did. Thanks for the previous reviews or we would be haunted by mosquitoes throughout our stay. If you are into Sunday market, this is the place to stay - market is right along the street. Furthermore, quite a number of temples are situated around U Chiang Mai.

U Chiangmai hotel is located in the very center of old town Chaing Mai making it a great location to walk to everything in the old city walls. My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed being in the heart of the city. The hotel is amazingly very quiet. The room was clean and had a large.
The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful ( awhile I was going to the airport, I forgot my passport and they brought for me :) ) the restaurant. Whilst breakfast was fairly good.
Well, when we come back we will certainly stay here again.

I really can't find anything bad to say about this place, and my choice of hotel is usually hilton. Not even a "it would have been nice if...." staff, service, rooms, beds, and pretty much anything you can think of, all top notch. And echoing other reviewers, they don't care when you have breakfast. Rock up in the evening and get bacon and eggs! I can't recommend this hotel enough.

Fab hotel - from the beginning we had fab service we were met by the lovely Jimmy at the airport. Check was fast and by lovely smiling staff at front desk. Lovely bedroom which had direct pool access and small seating area outside also. We had three nights fabulous sleep in that bed it was just gorgeous - and fab sheets etc felt so soft!!! The novelty of having your breakfast anyime anywhere was just so brilliant ...my only little complaint would be that the cooked breakfast was not that hot despite asking each morning for it to be hot .... and if this was fixed it would be a completely faultless stay. However saying that I ould definetely return - the hotel is in a fab location brill for seeing all the temples and the city and anything the staff can do they will book for you or help you out just ask. In fact they put us in touch with a fabulous tour guide aswell who I must mention Mr. Chai Sorapong 081-9509220 - super knowledge of everything and we had great fun with him. You will not be disappointed if you stay at the U - its just lovely!!!!!

Room Tip: we had room 105 - pool access lovely
