My boyfriend and I were very well taken care of by Mr Kem, the owner of Vanilla Place.

Our room was very clean and always had that nice sun-dried refreshing smell which I love. Oh, and I am very impressed that there ain't any mosquitoes in our room. We had very good sleep every night.

Mr Kem was very kind to help us arrange for our daily activities and got us good discounts.

Thank you very much! It really made our vacation a very relaxing and organised one.

We spent 6 days at Vanilla Place. It was our first trip to Thailand, and Mr Kem was such a treat. He advised us so well, from restaurants, to shopping, and massages. He arranged rides, negotiated prices, and made our visit to Chiang Mia quite delightful. He is so friendly, and always has time to answer any question. We would highly recommend spending time at Vanilla Place, and taking Mr Kem's advice. We accidently left with our keys, so I advise you to remember to leave them. He was even very understanding about that, and we were quick to mail them back!!
Have a good time in charming Chiang Mai.

Can only say great things about Mr Kem and his wife. Gracious hosts with terrific advice and help arranging travel around Chiang Mai.
Rooms are large with AC and a nice shower. Beds are firm and if too firm they have extra covers to soften the ride.
Nice continental breakfast to start the day. Convenient to the "old city", night markets and temples.

We spent a week at Vanilla Place. Booked a superior room on the 4th floor with window overlooking the street. Yes, we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs, but we knew that so it didn't bother us, plus we needed the exercise. Traffic during the day on the street below, but quieted down at night. Also, this isn't a party place so was quiet at night in that respect. As others have said, Mr. Kem and his wife are wonderful people and are very willing to help you plan activities. Keep in mind that this is a mid-range hotel at a low price so don't expect a 5 star resort. That said the rooms were cleaned daily and continental breakfast was served in the common area. Be sure to ask him for restaurant recommendations in the area. We ate at several and they were all delicious.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less street noise. Size wise, the rooms are fine for 2 people. Trying to get a...

Mr Khem and his wife were very curteous and friendly. When we arrived they had the bags carried to our room while Mr Khem gave us a crash course on Chiang Mai. Id suggest to hold off booking and day trips until arriving and speaking with Mr Khem. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The only improvements i would suggest is changing the sheets and making the bed. The bed was staightened but not made. Overall however an excellent stay.

Wow! Stayed here for 2 nights when we visited Chiang Mai. The owner of the Guesthouse (Kem) and his wife are so amazing. Before we even arrived Kem was offering to book us our trips at discounted rates then what the website offered and also gave us very clear directions with how to get there. We arrived early in the morning around 10am and he let us check in no problem. The rooms were perfect - simple but perfect. My room had a view of the street below and a patio that you could sit out on. Kem also has a dog named happy at the guesthouse that is adorable! Also as soon as we arrived Kem showed us where we were on a map and arranged to have a driver take us to different places in Chiang Mai. Very homey feel at this guesthouse and always felt welcome. The breakfast was an assortment of croissants, fruit, toast and juice/coffee/tea. Was great for a continental breakfast and was ready early in the morning when we were up! I cannot say enough good things about this place and you just have to stay there to see for yourself! Will definitely be back next time I'm in Chiang Mai.!

My family (wife and 2 daughters) and I stayed here for 10 nights, January to February 2014. We stayed in two superior rooms on the first floor. The rooms were comfortable for two and our girls enjoyed having there own room and my wife and I felt secure that they were safe. Breakfast is continental and the coffee is excellent.
Mr Kem and Mrs Kat are perfect hosts, who cannot do enough to make your stay comfortable and for you enjoy what Chiang Mai has to offer. They are always willing to help with any questions and suggest places to see, where to eat etc. Of course if you want to do your own thing, that's perfectly fine. The other staff are lovely too, very helpful and attentive, even though English is not there native language.
The location is the night bazaar area; 5-10 minute walk to the Warorot (day) market and 10-15 minute walk to the Old Town.
When we arrive at a hotel, we always ask to see the room/s first.
All in all this is a lovely place to stay and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone for their stay in Chiang Mai.
Thankyou Mrs Kat and Mr Kem and we cannot forget Happy, we miss you already.

Room Tip: Superior rooms have windows and standard ones don't. Also, when you arrive, always ask to see th...
