We stayed 2 days at this guesthouse. We needed a place to stay only for sleeping and shower, as all day we were supposed to be in town visiting all the marvelous temples around.
so no need to get a marvelous room as we would never get any time to savour the luxe of a room.
Our main criteria was a nice mattress, as after a long day visiting temple, we needed to have a nice and comfy rest.
The rendezvous guest house was absolutely perfect for our requirements.
Then the last day, the owner proposed us after check out to keep our luggage in a big room closed by cadena and to put all the valuable goods in metal case that we should lock with our personal lockers, all this with no charge. so we enjoyed chiangmai to the very last minute with pleasure of not having our heavy big backpacks with us!
Sincerely, the room at 450bath per was a very very good deal!

Room Tip: room at the 1st floor is better and avoid luggages with weels : better backpack as no lift there and...

I have know the Rendezvous Guest house for over 20 years. It has changed over time for the better. 30 rooms in total right, at the Tapae Gate in the old city. Some rooms are more basic and fan only, but its all kept very clean and the restaurant is above average.

We booked ahead and got adjoining room for the kids wife and I. They for a guest house were great rooms on the third floor a short walk up. The two end rooms. Nice quite air with conditioners, and a balcony overlooking the temple below. Small but for the price a great value. Satellite TV in the rooms as well. We enjoyed the Olympics.

Included is a continental breakfast. A cup of real nice hot strong coffee served with cream or creamer, and sugar. A nice glass of fresh juice of your choice, a small plate of very fresh fruit and two nice pieces of wheat toast, with fresh butter and jam or marmalade.

You can book tours there as well with no pressure.

Yes it is a guest house, so at night you can hear doors open and close if you are an early sleeper, but its no big deal. The place is a great value for the price.

I must admit the owner Khun Preecha, and his wife Khun Sureewan, are old friends. Khun Preecha had one of the first guest houses in Chaing Mai . The Orchid Guest House. We met and became friends 34 years ago, my oldest Thai friend in the Land of Smiles. Great to see him and his family, I am sure he feels the same way.

Room Tip: This is a guest house so we are talking less than 20 UDS or 12 quid a night. If you plan to get out...

We stayed here for 3 nights and booked this guesthouse as everywhere was completely booked out when we arrived here after a long-haul bus ride. We didn't know what to expect and didn't have internet to check on Trip Advisor before we stayed here but it has proved to be a lovely place and is in a great location for exploring Chiang Mai and is right next door to Sunday Walking Street. Whilst the rooms are very basic and not completely spotless, as two young travellers on a budget this guesthouse was completely fine and a good place to come back too and relax after a big day out. Our room did not have air-conditioning but this was not a problem- the rooms are cool and the fan is more than adequate.

This guesthouse is perfect for backpackers and you are not forced to do tours and other activities which is quite rare for accommodation here. The bathrooms were a bit scummy, but bearable and the double bed was very large and the rooms have a personal decor touch. We did not have bed bugs in our room as people have previously stated, but be aware that this guesthouse is nowhere near luxurious. Staff were not very helpful and were rarely at the office but overall we are pleased with the guesthouse. As a word of advice, we went to almost every guest house in Chiang Mai inner moat area looking for places and we were amazed by the quality of Sri Pat Guest House which was recommended in the Lonely Planet. If we had the chance, and we had booked far in advance, we would definitely have stayed here and paid about $10-$15 AU dollars more for this beautiful guesthouse complete with a pool.

although a bit overpriced for a guesthouse (500 B a night for a single room) I really appreciated all the amenities the room had to offer specially after traveling Laos for a month in a shoestring so to speak. The guesthouse itself is located in a quiet alley near the east gate and it not only has great rooms but also a quite good restaurant with nice seating. You can also find great information about every single thing to do in town, even Muay Thai boxing if that's what you're into! You can't have your laundry done there but right next to it there's a laundry shop, quite convenient right? On the other side of the hotel you can take Thai cooking classes. Walk out the alley to the west and you will find a whole array of places to eat and shop.

You do get free wifi but I would throw in a free breakfast as well for the 500B instead of leaving it out the price but then again I don't own the joint right?

Breakfast you get the choice of museli with yogurt and fruit, 2 eggs with loads, ham sandwich or egg sandwich. The restaurant has really really good food, but it is decorated a bit like an american diner. rooms aren't small and the bed is pretty big. 500b for fan, we gave in and bought aircon! too hot, but only 650b. amazing location, very central in old chiang mai and right next to a wat and near the cheapest place we've found in thailand to have your clothes washed at 20b/kg. some great restaurants near by and the brilliant sunday walking street happens about 10 seconds walk away! the hotel allows you to book some good tours, you can see doi suthep for 400b.
