A three star boutique property perhaps need to be like Hotel M. It offers all the convenience and provides reasonably good comfort at a price which is value for money. The basic things expected from the property are really outstanding which means a nice comfortable bed, a good shower and clean washroom, and a good functional set breakfast.

However the property stands out since it is a wonderful location. The hotel is right opposite the Tha Phae Gate- ie the eastern gate to the old Chiang Mai city area. A wonderful night bazaar is on display here on Sunday.

All around the property there are wonderful eating places. There is a good coffee outlet right below and across on Tha Phae gate compound you can land some wonderful Pad Thai and other local delicacies served by roadside vendors. This is a happening area and there is some nice bustle to catch up with as you see other tourist moving around.

A few minutes of walk and you are at Wat Chedi - the most iconic & outstanding temple of Chiang Mai. Close by are other attractions like the Wat Phra Singh or the City Art & Cultural Centre. A less than a km walk and you are at Night Bazaar , not too far from the City Railway station and the Airport either, the location is simply great to cover the City around.

If you dont wish to walk much, then right outside the Hotel many local taxis ply which work on a common route and connect you to night bazaar , the Chiang Mai Zoo etc on a very reasonable price.

Room Tip: Choose the corner rooms which are Deluxe rooms and with windows on two sides of the wall.

We selected Hotel M for the location, it was good. Opposite Thae Pae gate and was brilliant since we were staying on Saturday and Sunday Night. Sunday NIght Bazaar starts from the side of the street all the way down to the street near the 3 kings' monument.

The reception was friendly and could understand simple English. Map was readily available from the counter. We could not reach the tour helpdesk, perhaps as it was a weekend. Room was simple and greeted with 2 towel elephant, opening the window we saw the towels hanged with hanger and a filthy mop. What a sight? The hotel oversees the gate Thapae and afar Le Meridien.

Mistake we made, on day 2 we had place the do not disturb rope, but we did not close the curtain. And like mention, i guess the staff could look into your room. To my horror when we return to the room the pillows and cushions were re-arranged, the cushion was on the head bed adjusted to rest the head while lying on the bed, watching TV perhaps? and the rooms feels cool and it was certain that someone had just been in the room enjoying the air-con. Luckily we did not find any missing items.

though we were upset we did not mention during our stay. Aside hotel complimentary breakfast was horrendous. We advise to skip it and eat near by.

Within walking vicinity there is 7-eleven (a few shops across the road), Burger King and money changer at the foot of the building.

Room Tip: Choose rooms away from the lift and close the curtains!

The hotel was clean, quiet and everything you expect of a central hotel. Ok breakfast, fantastic location, unfortunately no gym or pool but great nights sleep. Fantastic location for shops, restaurants (the one on the corner was our favourite).

Room Tip: No swimming pool or gym

I had stayed here previously on two different trips. This year, however, I found it was overpriced and very noisy. The location is excellent, but for the price it is not worth it. I would not really recommend it as there are much less expensive and nicer places to stay in the old city. The breakfast which had to be included was horrible. I did find the desk people very nice. But overall, I no longer recommend this place.

Hotel room is clean and simple, and the price is very attractive, dont expect they have Spa, swimming pool - this is hotel "just sleep". The reason why i book Hotel M because of the price, and the location

the "Tha Pate Gate", Starbucks & MC Donald just opposite to the hotel, 24hrs Burger King @ Grand Floor, dont worry if you need something else of Thai food. Local tour agency / car rental also next to the hotel.

hotel just next to the Sunday night market, just walk down to the street to explore what they are selling -- must go !!
