Frangipani is located In the old walled city. Great place to stay, close to food, nightlife, walking markets. And if a quiet day at "home"is what you want, this is the place where you can relax and enjoy.

The Frangipani Services Residences are tucked away in a quiet lane in the heart of Chiang Mai's old town centre - tranquil, yet right in the heart of town. The apartments themselves are immaculately clean, with luxurious, traditional, dark hardwood fittings and good modern bathrooms and excellent small kitchens. Service, from the efficient daily maid service to the ever-present and ever-attentive Luxami providing assistance with everything from drinking water supplies to restaurant and tour recommendations, is second to none.

The only downsides are an absence of a balcony (in my apartment, at least - I believe that larger apartments have them), and the lack of any garden or courtyard area to sit outside - but there are plenty of such places within a couple of minutes' walk, so not the end of the world. As another reviewer has pointed out, too, there is no pool. I feel that, given the price, which is right at the top end of what is possible to charge in Chiang Mai, it's justifiable to mention these absences.

The area itself is a mixed blessing. Tranquil, certainly, and the temple of Wat Chiang Man, next door, the oldest temple in the city, is a blissfully atmospheric place to explore - nicer, to my taste, than some of the larger, more glittery and "obvious" temples in the vicinity. But inside the moat can sometimes feel like a bit of a backpacker "bubble"... there are lots of tourists, perhaps one too many banana pancake stalls, and overall a faint air of unreality. However, there are hidden corners of the old city that hide very different experiences - from top class restaurants like Rachamankha to lovely little cafes hidden in shady gardens. And, in any case, it's only a short distance to hop over the moat and explore the wider city, and yet again Luxami can provide directions to recommended restaurants, ranging from the high-end fine dining sphere to good, reliable, everyday Thai restaurants serving real Thai food, as well as places for breakfast.

This was my first trip to Asia, and this was a great choice to begin with. Firstly because Chiang Mai is a great starting point for finding your feet in Asia - it's a calm, easygoing, gentle-spirited city. Secondly because the comforts and attentiveness of Frangipani act like culture-shock absorbers, but without insulating you from your surroundings altogether like a five-star hotel. It's an excellent and lavish halfway house between tourist Thailand and Thai Thailand.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front, which face Wat Chiang Man.

I travel to Chiang Mai annually, and for the second straight time stayed at the Frangipani. Located down a quiet lane behind Wat Chiang Mai in the old city, the location is good with shops and restaurants close by.

The Frangipani is designed in a striking Lana style and each of the nine apartments is tastefully and uniquely furnished. Apartments have all the services you would expect in a luxury establishment , includng high speed internet, cable TV, and pass code security. Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and plenty of space for entertaining guests.

The on-site owner/manager, Luxami Utaipol, is a gracious hostess who makes you feel welcome. She is extremely helpful in providing information and assisting in making your stay in Chiang Mai enjoyable.

I was in Chiang Mai for a week over Loy Krathong and the place I was thinking of staying at was full, so prefering an apartment, I found Frangipani via an internet search and then a recommendation from a Chiang Mai DE on a forum post (thanks for the tip Marie, nannyre) I'm so glad I found this place.
This is a great place to stay if you don't need hotel facilities, but do want large, elegantly furnished, comfortable apartments and a welcoming atmosphere. It is in a great spot, right behind Wat Chiang Mai, a 5 minute walk from the noth gate and 5 mins to the three King's monument, perhap a 10 minutes walk to Ratchadamnoen or Tha Phae gate. The surrounding area has some great small cafes and restaurants close by and yet the apartment building is in a lovely quiet soi. My one bed apartment had a large balcony facing north with views to Doi Sutep in the west.
The kitchen was well equipped, the decor charming, bathrooms very good and the beds super comfortable with top quality linens. The apartments are serviced daily with fresh towels etc. and there is everything you could need for a short or long stay, including free internet access, although via a cable rather than wi fi, worth noting if you're an iPhone user. The lobby area, lifts and corridors are clean and elegant and there's a seating area in the lobby and tea and coffee making facilities there, small library etc.
The owner is very charming and helpful and on hand to welcome you and help you out during your stay, as and if needed. Unexpectedly I was able to park my car right outside as there are a few parking spaces for residents.
I highly recommend Frangipani Serviced Residences and will certainly be happy to stay here again

First class accommodations in a lovely setting. This is our second time at the Frangipani and we hope to have many more. It is a beautiful, quiet building with card key access and elevator behind the Wat Chiang Man. Full maid service six days a week. Spacious one bedroom with two baths, full kitchen, living room/dinning room combo, internet, TV...what more does one need? The owners attend to every detail. We plan to visit again and again! Love to be pampered.

If you are looking for spacious one or two bed apartments with kitchen and 'full service' (cleaning, changing linens) in the centre of Chiang Mai, Thailand, then you should consider Frangipani.

No pool, but you can use the one next door. Just round the corner from the THAI Airways International office, and several small restuarants - easy taxi ride to the night bazaar and other attractions.

friendly and helpful service.
