Lovely hotel, lovely staff, lovely service.

Although the hotel is only 3 years old, the design and workmanship transports you to a colonial era.

At check-in you are welcomed to tea in a sitting room. The bedrooms are spacious and elegant. The spa was a delightful experience in service quality. The breakfast was plentiful and diverse given the boutique hotel size.
It is a 5 minute walk to the night market.

Thanks for a great time.
Highly recommend!

We stayed at Ping Nakara Hotel & Spa in October 2012 in room 210. The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom had a lovely deep bathtub and a separate shower. Extras like the free minibar and coconut caramels in the room were a lovely touch and much appreciated. Breakfast was included in the rate and with buffet and menu choices everyone was happy. Our late-night checkin was handled efficiently and staff were helpful at all times. The building is lovely, and the grounds are immaculate. Our only regret is that our stay was too short - we will definitely return to Ping Nakara.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

Ping Nakara was a great choice of a hotel. The service was terrific! They were friendly, they always remembered our names. The breakfast was included and it had a great variety from the buffet to personalized menu items. The pool was cute, good size, and CLEAN. The rooms were clean, cozy, and roomy. The bathroom had a large tub, bathroom sink had a small counter space, and the toilet had a sliding door to the shower.

The location is perfect. Just a few blocks away from town/markets. Rather easy to find too. We would recommend for our friends, and if we were to go back to Chiang Mai, we'd probably stay here again.

Sometimes in the middle of the night you will hear the temple dogs barking, but you'll hear that anywhere in Chiang Mai.

We spent 1 week at the Ping Nakara and couldnt complain about anything! its small only 19 rooms so you rarely see anyone, very relaxing, has a great pool. The staff were all fantastic and very helpful, we ate most of our meals at the restaurant, all the dishes we ordered we loved and it was very cheap as well! Room and property was beautiful! Pillow menu which we used and a movie menu with lots of choice! free mini bar in room which is a bonus and home made sweets! On arrival the staff were so kind and made us feel very welcome. There is someone available to organize tours which we used and was very helpful, close to the old wall and walking street.Breakfast was great lots of choice and all yummy, choice of hot breakfast freshly made and a buffet of fruits, cereals, croissants, juices, etc. We had the best time here and will definitely be back! you will not be disappointed!

This hotel makes it onto my list of favourite places I have ever stayed at. The gorgeous building is just the start - it has everything you could want in a luxurious hotel. The room was large with a great bathroom, and the best bit...the bed was sooo comfortable. There are also a number of common areas around the hotel where it's just lovely to sit and enjoy some wine.
Breakfast was great, and I could have eaten those coconut milk caramels all day! I got a good deal on this hotel through a booking website rather than directly through the hotel, so it was great value too.
Could not recommend this hotel more highly!

Our first visit a couple of years ago was an absolute delight so our family couldn't wait to return to this very stylish and intimate boutique hotel. Last time we occupied two rooms towards the rear of the hotel and this time elected to stay in two of the larger suites that run parallel to the gorgeous pool area.

While the hotel is still the same tranquil oasis (albeit set on a busy street) we found that it has sadly lost a little of its charm. All of the staff are very courteous but the front office staff are noticeably less engaging now and have significantly less of a grasp of the English language than last time we stayed. Ordering room service, for example, should not be a difficult exercise. Putting numbers against the menu items might help staff with limited English?

The breakfast staff were lovely although some of the cooked items we ordered were inconsistent over the few days we stayed. The restaurant setting, however, is just delightful-but make sure you apply the mosquito repellant they provide when there.

Oddly, the manager wanders about the hotel periodically with apparently little interest in engaging with guests and looks to be constantly inspecting things. Providing a smile or a hello to the guests as is recieved from all of the other staff would be welcome would make his presence less weird.

We also experienced the water pressure problems noted in other reports which has (apparently) been fixed. The spacious and well cleaned bathroom amenities are otherwise great.

Last time we stayed at Ping Nakara we noticed staff periodically touching up the white paintwork with dabs of paint to remove trolley scrape marks etc and thought that attention to detail was incredible. This time we noticed the hotel corridors have new and old scuff marks here and there which is a bit sad and very noticeable when the walls are painted white. The garden walls around the pool area are also showing signs of deterioration with areas of mould and peeling paint evident.

The spacious rooms are beautifully appointed and the big beds are lovely and comfortable. The limited mini bar, which is free, is a nice touch and the kids enjoyed that (two beers for the adults would be a welcome addition)! The expanded range of free movies is also a welcome bonus.

While we have never offered such extensive comment on any other property, we loved this hotel enough to return to it again in what was only our second overseas holiday as a family and are keen to see it retain all the wonderful attributes that made it such a special destination in the first place. Will we be back? Maybe. Other traveller's Trip Adviser ratings and comments are key when making our choice so we may try others as well as keeping an eye on the feedback on what was our favourite hotel in Chiang Mai.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for the detailed review of your second stay at our hotel. I really appreciate your candid comments as it is only by hearing from you that we can learn better what needs attention.

We regularly paint inside and out of the hotel. It is only during the rainy season that we cannot paint as the walls do not dry properly. We always plan to paint when the rainy season ends, and with low hotel occupancy. As we now enter to the cool season, all our rooms have been refreshed. And, yes, the water pressure question has been solved as I wrote previously--a computer controlled pressure regulator was malfunctioning.

Thanks again for your advice of putting numbers on our menu, and we are implementing it. The GSA staff at the front desk is improving, and admittedly, some are not fluent with their English. English remains a stumbling block for many hotel staff here in Chiang Mai. But we attempt to hire staff with service minds to help our guests, and sometimes a young staffer is great at service but a bit short on language facility, and for this we apologize.

As to the manager’s attentiveness, I am surprised to read your comment. He has been with us since before the hotel opened, and generally people enjoy talking with him about Chiang Mai because, as an expatriate, he is very familiar with the city since he has lived here for more than 20 years. He is very attentive to both guest and staff concerns. However, I will bring this to his attention to be a bit more friendly and to stop pacing!

We hope that you will see fit to return someday. Our goal is to give our guests a very high quality experience at a best possible cost, so that they will remember their visit to Chiang Mai as having a great time at a great hotel.

Kind regards,
Chairat

What a delightful place to stay. This hotel is immaculate throughout as well as the staff too.
The rooms are perfect with very modern utilities. I loved the rainfall shower and the beauful separate bath.
What is great about this hotel is everything in the room is free!! The mini bar, the snack bar a sweat jar with handmade coconut toffee sweets. Also all the soaps shower gels shampoos and bath salts are fantastic.
The breakfast is great too you can have your standard eggs and bacon breakfast or try the typical Thai breakfast. It doesn't stop there they have a Buffett too with everything you need.
The infinity pool is perfect for a relaxing swim.
The bar has a happy hours from 5-7pm and you get 2 4 1 on all drinks.
The night market is two streets away where you can eat a meal from 40 baht. The back of the tv screen there are around 6 vendors that don't look as nice as the more restaurant type places around the edge of the market but the food is excellent and super cheap. Don't be afraid to try it.
Take a trip to the elephant sanctuary and ride ox carts and elephants and then take a bamboo raft ride. Later go to the tiger temple and go in with the tigers and stroke them it's amazing. Don't go to the monkey sanctuarys the monkeys are chained up and I regretted it.
Overall fantastic
