always fresh fish - speedy if somewhat chaotic service.
catfish with red-curry sauce quite unusual but really good.
shrimnp tempura ( perhaps a little Japanese influence)
spinach with garlic - ideal as a green.
some good old-fashioned fried rice with egg.

some fresh coconuts and Thai beer made an interesting contrast and completed the meal.

This place claims to have the best seafood in Thailand.

We decided to test this hypothesis one evening after a weary traipse around the Night Bazaar (equally overhyped methinks).

Well, why not? The place was full and the vast array of seafood colourfully arranged on ice was impressive… and who could doubt their boast.

I should have visited the toilet (a sordid affair tucked away behind the till). That would have settled it, but I didn’t (until later) and we took a table and ordered the grilled seafood platter, morning glory and two beers. The vegetable and drinks were good, the seafood wasn’t. It was tasteless and far from fresh. The shellfish were chewy and the prawns were old and overcooked. The fish, although unidentifiable, was the best thing on the platter though having seen the Ping River close up I rather hoped it hadn’t come from its waters.

The best seafood in Thailand Puke Puke is not (this distinction goes to the Chedi in Phuket, at least in my limited experience of the country).

I can’t remember exactly what this mediocre meal cost, but my advice would be to take your Bahts and go elsewhere.

My husband has been travelling to Thailand on business and we decided to try out Ping Ping, which we found when we were visiting the Chiang Mai Night Market. You order your food from the fresh seafood displayed at the entrance of Ping Ping, then you tell them how you want to have your seafood cooked. We decided to have it grilled and it was very delicious. The big shrimps were not only delicious but cheap.

Tis place is packed at night during the market. Our server, Alex was excellent. Our food was good and the atmosphere was really lively. We had crispy chicken that made me fall in love with the crispy garlic you see all over Chiang Mai. The meal was ridiculously reasonable and dinner for two cost under $10usd. It isn't the height of cuisine, but for what it is, we enjoyed it.

it was a worst restaurant we ate in CM
lets start with a waиters : there were 3 of them , stand around a table without moving and waiting us to order . i understand , service should be good , but please, let us read a menus for a start and do not stare at us like we gonna run from there ... it was just some kind of scare .
then after we made an order one of waiters started to serve plates ( plastic !!! ) and found some kind of fly in them . ok - i understand , it's open air , it thailand . but cleaning a plate with a peace of paper and serving it to me , like nothing happened , it's over anything i expected
we asked for a fan , we got it and then waiters started to move it , even when asked not to do it
i guess we should leave at this point , but we was hungry and decided to stay ..

we ordered 2 soups , tom yam and chicken , 2 kind of fish , rice and shakes
tom yam ( this soup should and was ordered to be spice ) arrived not spicy . at all . sweet-sour . bad . soup was described as a "middle size" , however a portion was just a same size as a small size in nearby place we ate day before

chicken soup arrived sour . impossible to eat . not spicy , not hot . just sour . returned to a waiter .
one of fishes was ok , but another arrived over spicy , when was requested not spicy at all .
more than this , waiter that served this spilled fish sauce inside tom yam soup . we get a pork tom yam with with fish taste ... not good . even bad for a service
fried rice ( with chicken ) arrived with a piece of a sea food shells inside !!!
we payed a price , which was also more then regular prices in CM , no tip left .
