“Nice one”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2010

We stayed 6 nights in this hotel. Nice rooms, nice comfy bed, they still do renovations but not bad.

I would stay there again. Ah - price was good too - 23 Euros per night through booking.com

Cheers

Occaisionally you come across great hotels that are relatively "undiscovered" and offer fantastic facilities at great rates. This is one of them.

Having been to Chiang Mai many times before I was looking for a "sanctuary" to relax and unwind away from the tourist hustle and bustle of downtown but still be only 10 minutes away by vehicle. The Furama is perfect for that. A very quiet location, superb facilities, impeccable spacious rooms and most importantly very courteous, professional and charming staff who really do look after your every need.

There are two well maintained pool and very well equipped gym as well as great in house dining and bar facilities. Make sure you head up to the rooftop dining area for a sunset cocktail or two.

There is a great professional and organised in house travel and tour agent , Nature North Travel that can take care of your every tour need and can also organise to have a hire car or motorbike to be ready and waiting for you upon arrival. I can recommend her services very highly indeed.

The Furama group has recently taken over this hotel and is in the process of refurbishing and renovating it. Make no mistake this is going to be a very, very popular hotel once the word gets out. Grab a great deal on it while you can.

Found great rate on Wotif, even better than the rate offered by hotel. Manager helped me book on his own computer to get best rate possible. Extremely helpful staff, with one exception. Rooftop barman was rude and surly, otherwise spoiling a great venue. Rooms were HUGE, well designed, very comfortable with stunning views from 16th floor. Some rooms had been upgraded and were quite flash, although I chose an older style for the view.Spa bath in room, seperate shower, comfy bed, small kitchen area, free internet, 2 pools. Exceptional value, so much so stayed 5 nites instead of the planned 3. Only negative is location, a bit far out of town, although very quiet as a result.

We stayed here from New Years Day, supposed to be 4 nights but we ended up extending another 4!!

We took the overnight sleeper train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and so arrived at the hotel at 10am, they let us check in early and we had the "cheapest" room option there was, but it was fantastic!! Massive bed, Chaise, Balcony looking onto a mountain, Jacuzzi bath, seperate shower, lovely bath robes and slippers!
Staff were great, and they actually booked some of our excursions for us for free so you only pay the excursion price and no mark up - unlike the agents in town.
The hotel is on the north west of the main town, it takes about 20 mins to walk into the centre and because its a good 10 - 15 degrees cooler than the south of Thailand it means you can walk around all day!
Pool on 5th floor was nice, but by midday the sun was on the back of hotel, so you can only sunbathe for the morning really.
2 restaurants, which again are ok, a little pricey for Thailand standards, but not for a 4* hotel!
Its so easy to walk into town i would recommend doing that for food, much cheaper and bigger variety.

One thing, their laundry charges were really expensive, and if you walk out the back of the hotel into the mini mall, there is a laundry place there which was about 10 times cheaper and they will even take the clothes back to the hotel for you next day!

All in all great hotel, quieter location than the main town which suited us, friendly people, nice breakfast and a great base to explore Chiang Mai
