We stayed 3 nights in TK Guesthouse, located in a nice neighbourhood at walking distance (or rent a bike) of most of Chiang Mai's 'must sees'. Rooms are OK and have a very basic private bathroom. Recommendable for those who aren't looking for too much comfort and luxury.

We had a wonderful time in Chiang Mai, possibly our favorites place in Thailand. Mr. T and all the staff at t.k guesthouse made our stay so enjoyable. They were very accommodating and helped us book activities at a cheap price. They really appreciate their guests and genuinely want you to have a great time! Will definitely be coming back to tk guesthouse next time. The rooms are spacious comfortable and very affordable especially compared to more commercial and expensive areas in Thailand. Its very safe and secure, a gate that is locked at night that only guests can access. Can't wait to see mr T and all the lovely staff again, would recommend this place to anyone!!! We arrived in Chiang Mai at 4am, and called TK Guesthouse. It connected us to T, the owner, in a car on his way to Bangkok. He told us to go to the guesthouse and wake up his sister. We felt bad and decided to wait until 7am to check in. But, he gave us the code to a storage closet so we could store out stuff while we explored during the sunrise.

We got a double air-con room for 400B. Wifi on every floor. Great restaurant downstairs, but you can get cheaper food elsewhere. Try the Khao Soy right next store!

The staff is excellent, T and his sister both. His sister got us tickets to Elephant Nature Park, and got us a discount for a cooking class. Also, unlike other guesthouses (in other cities mainly) who try to rip you off with internet, their PC cafe only charged 15B an hour.

Overall, great experience and highly recommended.

Friendly staff, good prices, large, clean but basic rooms with private bathroom. Guesthouse also does tour bookings (we booked a 3 day hike through them at competitive prices). It has a cafe and internet services. Excellent English is spoken by the lovely girl that works here and the man who owns the hotel. Scooter hire is also available. The location is awesome - south end of the city near Pratu Chaing Mai. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking the street for chillaxing and people watching time.

Pros: Friendly staff, big building with lots of rooms, nice restaurant area downstairs with good wifi signal throughout bathroom. Sweet woman cooking in the restaurant, very cheap beer! Clean rooms and plenty of space. Good price for what you get. Booked our train tickets in the travel office with no problems!

Cons: Bed was a sack of potatoes with springs sticking out everywhere. Actually had to lay on clothes to prevent wires and springs from digging in throughout the night. The pillow was the worst pillow I've had on my entire 5 month trip thus far. It was better to NOT use the pillow.

As a solo traveler I stayed in a room with a fan and good sized bed. The rooms are clean and my only quip is that the fan was far enough away that it still felt warm when I went to bed. Perhaps a second fan would have done the trick or a fan that is a little closer to the bed. But that is a minor complaint. The place is also a bit noisy at night from all of the street activity -- but nothing a pair of earplugs could not help out with. The guesthouse is in the thick of it all.

The location is in a "backpacking" district and yet there are all sorts of guesthouses and hotels. It is in the old city near everything, really. It is a short walk to the Saturday market and an even shorter one to the daily market with good food stalls. If you want Western food - you've got it. If you want Thai - you've got it.

Tee is a very happy and helpful guesthouse owner. I had a number of questions and he was willing and able to help out with everything.
