Khum Phaya is an incredibly beautiful hotel. The grounds, our room - everything was just beautiful. Our room opened out onto the pool which was a nice touch. The service was very attentive though we were only staying there for one night. The hotel also had a pretty decent workout room which was nice. The only negative was the location so far outside of the city center. Overall, a great experience.

The Staff at this hotel were fantasic. The breakfasts were yummy too with lots to choose. It was a little far from the town but the hotel had a van and took us too the night bazzar and the hadicraft area. Very happy with this hotel would stay here agian for sure.

The Khum Phaya is a beautiful hotel. It is centred around waterways and one of the longest pools I have ever seen. My room was stunning-surrounded by plants on all four sides. The shower cubicle doubled as a steam room and there was a jacuzzi and massage room attached. The terrace looked out onto a waterway and an incredible array of plants. So what was wrong? Well, given the fantastic room and the excellent value for money I'd imagined the place would be full. It wasn't. This is a great place to get away and not meet other people. Don't get me wrong. It IS beautiful ... a few more people may have helped. Maybe it was off season (though the rest of Thailand wasn't) The hotel is off the beaten path. It's neither in town (which is ghastly) or near the river. So bank on a long drive. The restaurant is barely passable thought room service is good. The resort is so spread out that staff has to cycle to you-which can cool your espresso down a little. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to be be in a beautiful solitary environment.

Pros:
1: Amazing out of this world pool
2: Great hotel facilities
3: Everything you need from an international class hotel (business center, gym, pool, newspapers, etc…)

Cons:
1: A little bit far from city center (but you can work around it)
2: The king bed is really two separate single beds one next to the other; they are not too comfortable either.
3: The clean up crew need to be more attentive to squashed bugs on floors and mirrors.

We stayed there for about a week, when we arrived the hotel was fully booked and there we no rooms left, disgruntled we asked to talk to the manager, and he kindly gave us a suite, which was really nice! The room was huge with its own private Jacuzzi outside. I wish I knew the managers name (young thin guy wearing a grey shirt) because he really made our stay more enjoyable and went the extra mile!

This hotel is located on the second super highway, which makes it a little bit far from the ‘intra-muros’ city. However it’s located near a Carrefour shopping mall which makes for farang friendly shopping. You can take a taxi (by taxi I mean the back of a pickup) from the Carrefour store to the city center for about 120baths and 150bath to the airport.

I truly believe that the extra distance from the city center is not a problem as the hotel is very relaxing, there’s great food, good staff, good value for the buck, etc! I just can’t stop saying good things about this hotel. The hotel is very new and the pictures are right, the hotel is very nice!

Note to management: I believe that the cleaning ladies need to spend a little more time washing the floors and the mirrors of the room. Upon arrival we noticed that there was one unmistakable squashed bug on the floor and two on the mirrors of the bathroom. When we left, one full week later the squashed bugs were still there!

I would stay there again for sure and I recommend it!!!

We spent a Xmas Eve 2010 in this hotel (room 5109).

The welcome was quite warm and receptionist was extremely helpful and actually made our day, at least part of it.

At first glance room looked quite nice, but then some little things got visible.

Power plugs… I was happy to find one! Do they know that people use laptops, iPods, phones, iPads, etc? Usually both partners do. And we need to charge our gadgets! One plug. Thank you.

Dirty water stays in shower. Shame.

And do not try to shave — the light is so poor that U have more chances to cut yourself than to finish your job. Same goes for makeup.

Internet is working in hotel lobby area only, in the room U R out of luck.

Then comes The Spa. Forget that  some say it's expensive, it costs more than double than those (quite nice!!) buddies in city center. Even their promotions are over-overrated.
And they would be happy to charge your room for extra 15% "for your convenience". Isn't it nice?
And one more thing — the Spa menu says they are "open daily from 10.00 to 22.00 p.m.". Again, forget it — they close at 8 pm.

Did I mention that some parts of the walls look like they did survived a couple of tornadoes and some floods (I have a picture if U need) without any paintings? Last time I saw smith like this in a very cheap hotel in Burma.

I have to say that I'm (still?) a Centara customer, I love The Sea Samui and X2 Resosrt, but this one is quite a disappointment. Maybe adding so many properties to the managing portfolio in so short time is not a good thing. At least before U say U R proud make them do renovation.

This is a beautiful property billed as a 5 star but really only a mid 4, located away from the city center. All the room directly face the pool, the ground floor (deluxe room) has direct access. Open your double sliding glass doors and step directly into the pool, a nice design but has its downsides. The room is nicely done in wood and the bed is comfortable with a mosquito net canopy for that extra romantic effect as well as practical use. The bathroom has a large tub and a shower with 6 side jets, spray head and rain shower head, really fabulous.

The only downside to the room right next to the pool is noise and privacy. We unfortunately were there when the kids were screaming in the pool early and late.
The breakfast not what you would expect from a hotel billed as a 5 star.
