“Home away from home in Chiang Mai”
Reviewed 6 December 2013

Dr Tui’s is the ultimate “home away from home”. We spent three days at Dr Tui’s during the very busy weekend of Yi Peng and relished the escape from the hubbub of the inner city of Chiang Mai. The rooms are clean, comfortable and generous, the breakfasts plentiful and fresh. Khun Morakot and all her staff were friendly and welcoming. Could not ask for more! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

A relaxing stay in a quieter but still convenient neighbourhood of Chiang Mai. The breakfasts were delicious, fresh and wholesome. The guesthouse is clean, the beds comfortable and the staff very friendly. Khun Morakot, our host was also incredibly helpful during this very busy period. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Chiang Mai.

We spent one week during January, 2013 at Dr. Tui’s Bed and Breakfast in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Our hostess was Morakot, the late Dr. Tui’s daughter. Morakot’s driver Arun and housemaid Rin picked us up at the airport and drove us to Morakot’s beautifully appointed family home. Although the home is only an eighth of a mile from a busy street, we heard none of the street noise. Margarita, the family dog whose first language is English madly greeted these two American English speakers. She is a lovely dog whose presence added both excitement and calm to the week. We had chosen the yellow bedroom, private with its own bath and balcony. It was the perfect choice for us.
When we arrived at Dr. Tui’s, a light lunch was awaiting us. All the food we were served is organically grown, mostly by Morakot on her farm or by farmers she knows. All the breakfasts were delicious. They included salad greens with homemade dressing, meat or eggs, rice, fruit, homemade biscuits, and bread. Prior to coming to Chiang Mai, I had written to Morakot listing my many food allergies. She wrote her menu with my allergies in mind, and I remained healthy and full during our stay.
Of course, we ventured out to look at Chiang Mai, so Morakot equipped us with a phone preprogrammed with her number, the number of an English speaker who has a taxi service, and other important numbers. Eating out would have been a problem for me except that Morakot had listed my allergies in English and Thai on a paper that I used in several restaurants. The Thai cooks were very accommodating, and we had only one minor problem during our stay in Thailand.
Morakot can recommend places and people during your stay. She knows authentic Thai massage therapists, cooking school, places to shop, restaurants, sights to see, things to do. When you are finished with your sightseeing, you can relax on the grounds of her beautifully landscaped property. You will love your stay at Dr. Tui’s Bed and Breakfast in Chiang Mai.

Room Tip: The yellow room is more quiet than the blue room.

Dr Tui's B & B is located in very safe and convenient area.
Khun Morakot is full of information about what to do and where to go in Chiang Mai
and her very warm lovely staff. Great breakfast. Mango jam was so delicious I ended up
buying 6 bottles back to Japan.
Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation.

Dr Tui's B&B is a very pleasant accommodation for travelers seeking warm homey atmosphere.
The owner Khun Morakot and 3 other staff were so kind and helpful in guiding our first trip to Chiang Mai. Since it is located in a safe and quiet residential district, though it is in the very convenient area, there was nothing to worry about for us 2 foreign women. I will never forget the delicious mangos they had just gathered from khun Morakot's organic farm , and fresh vegetable from their garden they served for breakfast.

DR Tui's Bed and Breakfast accommodation exceeds all expectations , starting with a lovely lunch on arrival and greeting from host and owner KHun Morakot and her polite and friendly staff.
The residence is set in a quiet court just off the main road, with little noise from traffic and night bars at all.
The house and garden set the mood for the most relaxing time to be had in this place of deity.
If you are looking for fast paced action and wild parties on your stay then this is not the place for you .
inner city Chiang Mai will suit you better,
However if you want to experience some real thai lifestyle and are an early riser i suggest a quick trip to the Local organic market at 6 am with Khun Morakot will get you in touch with some lovely local people.
The host is a food connoisseur and she has a great cook in Khun Nhui to prepare some delicious tasty breakfasts, and then khun Rin will make feel so special with her warmth , kindness and attention to detail as she serves you breakfast and cleans your room and will help you learn the Thai language while practicing her polite English with you.
Khun Morakot speaks fluent English as well as other languages and has some great suggestions for things to do in and around Chiang MaI , and when i returned from the Dentist not allowed to chew solid foods , she prepared a fish style soup for breakfast just for me ...
Above and beyond the call of duty.
A hidden gem in a peaceful area yet still only a stones throw from the busy inner city .....I will return ..
John from ..Australia...

Room Tip: The yellow room is quiet and slightly bigger

Dr Tui's B&B (www.drtuisbb.com ) is in a grand house located in a quiet - secure gated street next to Chiang Mai University. The B&B is in a secure gated street in quiet up market neighbourhood. We felt very safe. it is quiet and very relaxing - and hard to believe we only 3 minutes in a taxi/ Songtheuw and we were back in the hustle and bustle of the upmarket Nimmanheiman shopping and galleries. At the end of the street you are back in Huay Kaew Road - with terrific restaurants, coffee shops and a 7/11.
The host, Khun Morakot is very knowledgeable (speaks fluent english) and will assist you with suggestions for restaurants, and anything you want to do or buy in Chiang Mai, sorting a driver for the day..... . The B&B was named after her father - a respected doctor.
The breakfast is delicious and plentiful.
Morakot seems a generous host. She had organised for us to have some of the last of the organic oranges for the season and the juice was delicious. For breakfast and you sit in a lovely breaksfast room with a view through travellers palms into a quiet neighbourhood.
Staying here is an insight into comfortable life in Thailand. There are two bedrooms - both are quiet and spacious and have spotless modern bathrooms. We stayed in the yellow room - which had a king sized bed and a single and was larger than many of the hotel rooms I have stayed in. (Sorry I didn't take photos).
Easy to get a Songtheuw or taxi - we were in Nimmanheaman in 5 minutes and downtown in 10 and quick to airport. Also the right side of Chiang Mai to get to Tiger park and Elephant walk, and Zoo easily.
Highly Recommended
