“Nice hotel in great location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2012

We spent 2 nights in De Chai's suite room in December 2012.
This nice hotel is located in a quiet soi, 5 minutes walking form the night market location (week end) and not far from night bazar as well. Many restaurants and pubs around, at a walking distance.
The suite room : large, nice design, very clean and convenient. 2 large flat screens (bedroom + living room section) with international cable TV. Good free wifi connection. Large, clean and confortable bedding. The living room and the bedroom section are separated with a nice large bathroom (glass walls), with bathtub and shower. The only negative point could about the air con, a bit noisy ; though, in december, you can afford to shut it down ^^
The hotel has a small pool at the lobby floor. Didnt try, looks more adapted for a nice chill n drink session rather than swimming. There s a spa at the basement floor as well.
The breakfast buffet is maybe not as diversified as in other hotels, but tastes good.
The staff is very kind and professional, good english spoken here.
Last one, if you need to rent a motorbike, there is one shop 100m from the spot.

To sum up, we had a very good experience at De Chai. Perfect place to enjoy this beautiful city.

I recommend it!

I'm so glad we found this hotel for our week long stay in Chiang Mai. It has a great location, a wonderful aesthetic and amazing staff! They were so helpful and attentive. They even helped look after our daughter as my husband and I enjoyed their on-site spa the morning before we left. We stayed in the suite, which had a wonderful layout and great decor. The location was wonderful - we walked to almost everything and it was near a convenient 7-11, ATM, laundry and day-trip booking company. Can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was!

Very cool boutique hotel in a very authentic location. In a small lane like most of the area, and very close to the old city. Loved it.

Room design was very modern & stylish.

Staff was friendly and professional. Great service.

The hotel location is great,it is close to old city and to number of restaurants. Rooms are nicely designed. Comfortable. Tasty breakfast. Staff friendly. The only minus = white towels are seeking replacement. Air conditioning is a bit too laud but it works very well. Hotel is modern.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon. The room was huge and incredible clean. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The location is great too. Walking distance to tons of stuff. Wifi was strong.

My only complaint is the breakfast was fairly repetitive. It got old after a few days.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in November and I can say that this is a wonderful hotel, with excellent service! The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. Very modern ammenities and even complementary coffee and water in room...and breakfast in the morning!

The staff was excellent and attended to any needs, even though everything was perfect and we needed nothing additional.

Our next visit to Chiang Mai will definately include a stay at this hotel!

Room Tip: Very near the Night Baazar!

De Chai The Colonial Hotel is a great place for a short break in Chiang Mai. Conveniently located close to the old town and the night bazaar, this small, modern and well run boutique hotel merits its 4 - 5 star reviews in TripAdvisor. The public area facilities are somewhat limited, but the efficient staff and good quality rooms with high ceilings and very comfortable beds more than make up for this. There is a small well run spa and the buffet breakfast was more than adequate, with a cooked breakfast served to order. Situated in a quiet and peaceful Soi just off a main road, the old town and numerous restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Room Tip: Upper floors provide a better view of the old town
