Known as a 4.5 star hotel. But this is well presented as a 5 star Thai style hotel.

The hotel is not big. Only 5 floors. Room was very big and clean. Well organised. Big bathroom with both shower and bath tub separately.

We arrived late. But stuff were very nice and helpful.

Location: Close to many pubs and massage places. Then walking distance to the Red Light area where there are many bars and pubs. Also walking distance to the old city where night market takes place.

Free wifi is good. Breakfast was nice enough. Not so many choices. But was lovely with fruits and cereals.

NEGATIVE: Air-con needs repair. Was very loud even on low fan speed. Luckily I was tired enough to fall asleep. The alley to the hotel was very dark at night. It is very safe to walk. But if you are afraid of darkness, be careful. haha... The poor was under construction when we visited. Closed.

Love the hotel. Would go back again if I ever visit Chiang Mai

We chose this hotel as it is so close to our friend house. During peak season in Xmas period, De Chai gave us good experience. It could be better with their wifi. And we didn't try their breakfast and choose to nearby cafe. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good Xmas holiday for us!

When you stay at a hotel in Thailand that charges more than US$ 100, your expectations go high. This hotel looks cool, has a nice room and is well located. But that does not justify its price. The swimming pool is a flaw. It's indoor with no heating, so it's always too cold, even for Thai climate. In 4 days I saw no one by the pool. Then, there is breakfast, that is mediocre. I really expected it to be better. So overall, this hotel does not justify at all what it charges.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and the rooms were excellent. The check-in was fast and very pleasant and also incuded two glasses of chilled coconut juice. Very nice touch! Also, it is about a 15 minute walk to the night bazaar and also to all the temples and the old city. The room was very modern and clean. Breakfast was included in our booking and was very good. This is a great hotel at a reasonable price. The spa was also excellent and well worth the money.

We stayed at the De Chai for four nights. The room was immaculate and had the most comfortable bed we'd ever slept in! The pillows were amazing and I actually took down the label so I could buy some at a later date. The room had many interesting features and was a very good size.
Breakfast was very good and varied with lots of fresh fruit, good coffee, etc.
We also took advantage of one of their spa special offers and found them very relaxing.
I think the hotel would benefit from putting mosquito guards over the windows as it is very cool at night in Chang Mai and it would've been great if we could have had our windows open instead of having to use the AC. We found the AC dried our skin and we could never get the temperature right. Still, this was only a minor irritation and definitely did not affect our overall opinion of the hotel, which is excellent.

We stayed at the chai for 4 nights at the start of our holiday and returned for 3 nights at the end.
They managed to give us the same room and although prices had increased on the internet we could have the room at the same price which we really appreciated!
The room is wonderfully decorated and spacious, no view but the location was more important for us. 5 min from Thapae gate and 10 from the river and night market.
Staff is always very friendly.
Pool is small and does not invite, we never went. If you like to sit near the pool then this is not your hotel!
Breakfast is not elaborate but you can order a few things.
