Stayed in Sathu while in Chiang Mai for a few days. We were "flash packing" but even Sathu pushed our budget for the room offered. Furnishings well lovely, and the bed extremely comfortable but room was quite small for two people. The bathroom, as mentioned by others, is very small with the curious decision to place the shower head facing over the toilet...?

The staff however were extremely polite and friendly, but definitely try and haggle the price down closer to 1,200 baht!

The hotel is very different from what it appears on the website. The rooms are extremely small and cramped. There is no separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. You can literally sit on the toilet and take a shower simultaneously. In fact, the bathroom is so small, there is no other way to do it. You can hear everything your neighbor is saying- the walls are very thin. We requested a king bed, what we got was two twin beds pushed together with a huge gap between them due to the frame and there was absolutely no room to walk in your room if you use room for suitcases. The reason I gave two stars was because the breakfast was included and pretty good.

Do not EVER consider Sathu Boutique for your stay. Despite the good photos on their website and on booking websites the hotel is nothing like we expected.

The room smelled stale and humid like the windows hadn`t been opened in months.

The room was so small that the bed was the only thing that fit in there. It was so tight we couldn`t even open our suitcases. It was a huge disappointment given that the photos show spacious rooms.

The bathroom was a real piece of work with the shower head right above the toilet bowl. I can`t imagine how one would take a shower in this bathroom without falling into the toilet bowl. Water is splashing everywhere, making it slippery and dangerous, not to mention disgusting. Another example of
how Sathu boutique is promoting itself wrongly is that this all in one bathroom is not displayed anywhere in their advertising.

The pool appears beautiful and serene in all the online photos but in real life it is nothing more than a kiddy pool. The clever photographer made great use of a wide angle lense.

Last but not least the staff. After seeing the room we decided to go speak with the manager with the hope of at least getting an upgrade or a discount.
When we stated our issues about the room and bathroom but also about the fact that we didn’t get what we thought we were paying for she shut down completely, decided to ignore us and keep going on with her `work`and as we sat there trying to keep the conversation open and settle and compromise she called the police on us.

We felt pretty safe facing the police given that the website and picture are not accurate but decided to call the booking company to try to arrange things with them as a third party. They called the manager who with us didn’t seem to have any problem speaking in english but told them she didn’t speak english and needed a thai speaker. The booking company provided her with such a service and advised us to leave immediately without waiting for the police.

I must say we got a lot of email support from our booking company who took over our case but ultimately didn’t come to a satisfying result.
We never got even just a portion of our money back, the manager kept feeding the booking company with lies and when we sent pictures of the room we stayed in as evidence stated that « these were not photos of Sathu boutique ».

After this experience we cannot recommend for anyone to stay at Sathu boutique. Upon leaving the hotel we found right around the corner and for the same price a hotel with huge rooms and spacious bathtubs, friendly and helpful staff as well as delicious food ( breakfast is included) and top notch service (Anoma boutique).

Sathu boutique is taking advantage of their potential costumers booking online and fooling them into thinking they’ll find a beautiful oasis in the middle of the old town. What you really get is rude staff, bad service, small dirty rooms, humidity, and all-in-one bathroom with a hose for shower and toilet bowl as a throne.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere, there's lots of better accomodations just steps away.

My room was number 1 and was located near the pool. Here's my list of shockers: rock hard mattress, sink drain not connected to wall so it leaked out on the floor, dirty linens with numerous stains, no hot water, incredible amount of noise from water pumps day and night, tiny bathroom with no separate shower so water covers the toilet/sink, one broken down lounger by the pool, and staff only interested in making bookings for side trips to receive their commission. If I hadn't pre-paid I would have been out of there.
