“Very friendly and helpful staff”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

We stayed here for a week in February 2014 and had a very comfortable time. It has a beautiful pond with lots of lovely orchids and plants in the center of the guesthouse, with rooms looking over the balcony on to it. The rooms were nice, however I did miss having a window to let some natural light in, but it wasn’t a major issue.
The staff here are really friendly and go above and beyond to help out, for instance, I fell and sprained my ankle (watch out, the pavements on this street are pretty brutal) but the owner gave me crushed ice in a bag and some special cream to put on it , which really helped. The breakfast provided each day is fine, there is a varied choice, however there were a few days that my yoghurt and museli had some sweetcorn and kidney beans in it, which was new! But that is an actual flavor in Thailand, so you learn something new every day.
My only bad point would be that there is a fancy hotel nearby called Rachamnka and tuk tuk drivers kept taking us home to there, so carry the card with details of where your hotel is and it should be grand. But the location is great for walking to the Sunday night market! We had a brilliant time in Chaing Mai! Pity it didn't have a pool to relax around, but there is so much to see in Chiang Mai you don't want to be waiting around too long.

We had six nights in the De Rachamanka, and had a very pleasant stay there. Staff is always friendly and helpful, rooms are nice, tidy and clean. Definitely very recommendable!

Nights are quiet, aircon chills your room in the evening and morning, if you like. Breakfast is good and six versions to choose from. Nothing too fancy, but a very good head start in the morning.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights. The room was very spacious (we had 2 rooms - a bedroom and a private tv room) and clean (the only concern was the ceiling in the bathroom, which needs some repairs - it was a bit moldy).

Even though it is located in a busy road, the room is very quiet and we couldn't hear anything. The breakfast was great and the staff very helpful. In our last day in Chiang Mai we decided to do a cooking class and the staff kept our luggage at the hotel for free.

Would easily stay there again. :)

The place is quaint, but the rooms are very small. There's also a strange sewer like smell in the bathrooms. The decor is nice and breakfast really good. Unfortunately the place is located on a busy road, although very close to the Sunday night market and other tourist attractions. One of my family members had a medical emergency when we stayed here and the staff went above and beyond to provide support.

Just a night there is sufficient for us. We were put up in this "box-accommodation" when the nearby guesthouse which we were enjoying for 2 nights could not extend our stay due to full house. It was not their fault, rather our short noticed to them.

Anyway, we were given a room which had only a tiny window hidden next to the closet. Just like sleeping in a container with any window or skylight. The room is cramped. The single bed is on castors and it moves whenever you lean on the headboard. Actually, there is any headboard at the bed. It is actually the naked wall. Unpainted! The bathroom was okay until you turned on the ventilator. Mysteriously, the bad smell of sewerage permeated the whole bathroom.

Only very basic bathroom accessories are provided for guests. Just that you may like to know.

For 130 baht, you may buy a America breakfast in-house. No Thai food was on offered. We took a short walk out and found some lovely Thai breakfast. It was good food. We think we made a good choice because were happy.

One plus point for the guesthouse ~ it is nicely painted on the outside and located just by the main road, i.e. Rachamanka Road. Tuk-tuk drivers will not miss it. The nice and spacious reception area probably give the place a presentable face. Overall, we would give it 3/5 based on our personal experiences.

We stayed at this place after having viewed the photos on trip advisor and as well as having read all the nice posts below. This hotel is situated in the old city and it's around the corner to the Sunday night market. We got to our room, it has a small window facing the back dark alley. The room had a super musty smell and the bathroom felt slimey and dirty. Saw a huge wolf spider in the shower... The shower was also cold. We couldn't sleep because the ac was so loud and it was making such an odd noise, like a clicking sound every 30 seconds. How can you sleep to that??? For the price of the hotel, we expected more. It was a total let down. We immediately left for another hotel as soon as we woke up.

Jim and her staff were so friendly and courteous. Assisted with everything perfectly for our tours and bookings to numerous outings. Best place to stay, clean, friendly, courteous, excellent breakfast, and top notch service. Highly recommended for stay in Chiang Mai

Room Tip: Room on the street was relatively quiet. Enjoyed the balcony and watching all the sights and sounds...
