“Delightful property, best in class”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed at 137 Pillars House during their soft opening. Besides staying at a brand new all suites property, the staff were on top of their game. Everything worked very well and we loved the extra room afforded by a large suite. Interior and exterior showers no less and a bath! Comfortable bed and a well appointed room which included an expresso machine (but strangely only one coffee cup).
The hotel has plenty of outside public areas and the lovely 137 Pillars House which serves as restaurant, bar and lounge area.
The overhead vegetation is still immature, so the summers are going to be a little hot, but a retreat to the swimming pool or your room should solve the heat.
Free wifi, but a little slow.
The only downside is that the hotel is located away from the downtown action, 20+ minutes walk or a tuktuk
There is no doubt that this hotel will be the best in ChiangMai and currently represents great value.

Room Tip: They are all good ~ enjoy!

We chose this property because it was very new, having opened in January. First impressions were very good. Room is big, has a lot of character with a very homey feel to it. Grounds are well-maintained. In a nutshell, what makes this hotel great are it's staff - always smiling, polite and extremely helpful.

Positives:
Good room facilities - sound system, coffee machine, bath, outdoor shower, toiletries
Large balcony with day bed
Service is excellent
Optional private tours are good value for money
Restaurant is good and reasonably priced (for a hotel)
Nice pool
Lovely grounds and atmosphere
Good gym
Excellent breakfast
Convenient location - walking distance to good restaurants by the river, day spas and supermarket

Negatives (minor):
Noise - you can hear the loud music from the pub / bar around the corner
Be wary of booking a package - do the math first, see how it compares to the Internet rates
Expensive mini bar
Overpriced local calls - one call was USD3
Expensive spa option but very good (although there are cheaper options 5 minutes walk away)

Room Tip: East Borneo Suites are the ones to go for in terms of value, location, privacy and comfort. They ar...
